Stan ‘the Man’ Lee was on stage Friday evening. We were treated to his vibrant stories, including a how his company was renamed from Timely Comics to Marvel. He also included his opinion on re-branding of Detective Comic’s to DC. “What Kind of slogans can you come up with DC? But they mean well….. Good for them.”
We also learned that Stan almost had a cameo in Star Wars The Last Jedi with a picture to prove it:
One of the most striking difference between BCC last year and this is the HUGE presence of photo opps, autographing and actual panels of the stars. The autograph area huge! It took up about a quarter of the entire show floor. Aside from signage with big directions, the autograph floor was well laid out with tape & it seemed orderly.
One of the biggest draws are the Vampire Diary actors, Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley. The Main Stage, holding approximately 3,000 seats, is located within the main floor so both the audience and folks on the floor can hear big reactions of the other group. By far the biggest reactions I heard the entire day were from the fans of Ian & Paul! This was the line for their panel about a half an hour before and an overview of the Main Stage:
I did not explore Cosplaying as much as I wanted. There are a bunch of photo opp booths set up with props for Cosplayers. The 501st had a large booth with large props and there were a LOT of attendee’s cosplaying. My absolute fav. cosplay was the Silver Surfer holding a Ron Lim drawing of SS.
One last panel on Saturday with Daredevil’s Charlie Cox talks
#sdccfit and how hard it is to stay in fighting condition for the show. “Abs are make in the kitchen’, don’t over eat!” but he does allow himself 1 cheat meal a week. While he did not give any spoilers to next weeks Defenders drop, he did say it’s a lighter then his show but given his show, I’m not sure if we can expect Guardians of the Galaxy, “Lighter”
