Next Week in TV 10/29: Trick or Treating with Stan and Young Sheldon

By DRWHO42, Alyssa, & Mario Wario

This past week has been nothing short of epic with the returns of The Walking Dead, Blindspot, and Stranger Things. Walking Dead kicked off a massive battle between Rick and Negan which left us looking for more again this week. Blindspot returned with an adrenaline laced episode which channeled John Woo with boat chases in Venice and a ground assault topped off with a tank. Lastly, the much anticipated return of Stranger Things overtook our weekend plans with many of us settling down for binge sessions on the couch.

In the spirit of Halloween the week ahead will be filled with a few frights and a few treats. On the fright side Stan Against Evil returns Wednesday. Other highlights include Young Sheldon and S.W.A.T. on CBS – both look very promising. Another highlight later in the week is generating a lot of buzz is Alias Grace, premiering on Netflix. This series centers on an Irish immigrant and servant who is accused and convicted of the murders of her employer and his housekeeper. It is based on a novel of the same name by Margaret Atwood.

CBS will the place to be Thursday as The Big Bang Theory settles into its new night. Also joining CBS Thursday night line are Mom and Life in Pieces.

This week will start the Fall finales as several series transition into the winter hiatus. Superstore, The Good Place, Will & Grace, Chicago Fire, and Great News will take an early winter break. Stay tuned to our weekly articles to see when they return.

Lastly, this week we will say adieu as The Deuce, Liar, and Ray Donovan wrap up their seasons. Ray Donovan has been renewed and will shift its setting as well as filming location to New York for its 6th season.

3:01 am Netflix Alias Grace: Complete Series [Series Premiere]

In 19th-century Canada, a psychiatrist weighs whether a murderess should be pardoned due to insanity. Based on Margaret Atwood’s award-winning novel. Starring: Sarah Gadon, Edward Holcroft, Paul Gross Link to trailer
Editors note: Here is an excerpt from the Variety’s preview
“they are quite different interpretations of Atwood’s prose. “The Handmaid’s Tale,” a drama, softens the brutality of the plot with exceptional, masterful visuals. “Alias Grace,” a miniseries, is much less cinematically adventurous, but much more narratively complex. This is in part due to the vast difference between the two Atwood novels. “The Handmaid’s Tale” presents a dystopia; “Alias Grace” is a piece of postmodern historical fiction — one that incorporates fragments of actual historical record with first-person narration and epistolary structure. The patchwork narrative is brilliantly deliberate, because throughout the book, Grace is piecing together quilts.” Click for the complete non-spoiler preview
