It was amazing how little buzz there was for this show beforehand, but wow! This show was a big hit at my workplace, but mainly with people my age, which is the age the main characters' were at the time the show takes place. So I'm very curious to hear what people younger than me think about it since my experience is so tied up in how well they captured that time. The clothes, the way the houses looked, everything. I was hooked at the point when the critical D&D die throw went off of the table and they had to hunt for it. The only way to make it more realistic would have been to have someone painfully step on a tetrahedral die. (I still have a scar ... on each foot.) The other interesting thing is how they managed to assemble a show by grabbing parts of all these other shows, but were still able to make it feel so very much original. Many references are obvious, but I didn't catch some until watching it the 2nd and 3rd time, like the scene they borrowed from Mermaids. Speaking of Winona Ryder, I thought this was a very strong role for her and I hope we get to see more of what she can do in the future. So many of the acting performances were strong, but special credit to Gaten Matarazzo's Dustin. "Lando!" and "Why are you keeping this curiosity door locked?" are right at the top of my favorite lines, ever. (I had never heard of cleidocranial dysplasia before, there's a link here, You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login )A big thanks to [member=4434]Angel_K[/member] for the review!
Who else has already completed season 2? Who else thinks Steve, of all people, is a likeable character now?
