Lol! HOT, as in "Why the $&@! did I think a full suit of armor was a good idea in July?!!!"

Yeah, it is close to Old Town, but just wondering how much time it actually takes with the SDCC crowd.

Not sure if this is what u mean , but i remember like the last day it was like sardines full for the trolleys on the last day. took 3 almost 4 tries depend where u got it at and where u was going at time. that was like the first time i saw the trolley so full at anytime, except for in morning it was full enough going to the con like 1 or 2 days in a row like sat and sun since guess that when everyone was off or was able to go at the time.

For those who booked the Red Roof Inn downtown at 719 Ash Street, it's no longer a Red Roof Inn. It was bought out is now part of Wyndham Rewards as Baymont Inn & Suites San Diego Downtown.

I'm sending them an e-mail to see if they're still planning on honoring any Red Roof Inn bookings that were made in advance.

Edit: At least on booking my reservation has changed to reflect the hotel name change etc. So I'm pretty sure it's being honored. Not sure about bookings from other sites/directly.

For $1050 a night you can get a room online at either the Marriott or the Bayfront.  Or at the Bayfront you can also get one for 158,000 points per night.  Anybody have a spare million Hilton points they're not using?

See, I would have asked for a couple million dollars instead (and then buy out several floors for the whole forum during Comic-Con).  Ha ha.

Woohoo!  Me and my friend got our 4 day badges for this year.

Background: Last year we decided to simply go ahead and get a room at the Doubletree Hilton at Hazard Center.  Magnificent hotel....but expensive when we weren't paying the Con rate.

So, couple of questions: 1) Is the Doubletree Hilton at Hazard in the early bird sale?  2) If I participate in the early bird sale for that hotel, am I likely to get it?  And 3) What's the sort of discount on room rates that way?

Thanks!

1. It was the past couple years.
2. Highly likely if you respond early in the sale.
3. Early bird price was slightly over $200/night last year with free breakfast as the perk. Depends how many nights you are staying but you might score a lower rate on non comic con days such as Tues night and Sunday night by booking directly with the hotel. I agree its a nice place. My second favorite spot in Mission Valley.

If not said already, u dont always gotta wait for that unless the hotels give cheaper rates which i have no clue. i have read u can get a place if cheap right now, but can change it later with fair amount of notice so not charged if anything for canceling a place.

Any idea on when we should expect Hotelpocalypse to happen this year?

Everything has been so much "earlier" this year than last year...it's hard to say if it will happen before the end of the year or not!

I wish I just knew the date...

This is a pure guess on my part

I think we can safely assume it won't be till after the first of the year. I'm guessing the earliest would be mid Jan, it could happen in Feb. I doubt it'll be as late as march since everything else is so early.  But that depends on what OnPeak schedule is like, if the kinks are worked out etc all.

I'm not sure if you can extrapolate when Hotelpocalypse will be from past data, but here it is anyway

YearOpen RegHotel Reg
2017April 8thApril 26th
2016February 20thApril 5th
2015February 21stMarch 24th
2014March 15thApril 8th
2013February 16thFebruary 26th
2012?March 29th
2011?March 9th

So it looks like based on past dates, we should expect Hotelpocalypse no earlier than February.
