i ran into a guy selling lego at the Boston Comic Con today. I posted the pick i took in the booth in the BCC thread. http://friendsofcc.com/forum/index.php?topic=4104.msg130659#msg130659
they were $5 each. on further chatting with the guy he was very clear that they were not genuine lego's but by a china knock off. they looked and felt just like lego mini fig.
I dabble in minifigure collecting. I probably have about 100 of them.
Um......I don't think that's what one would call "dabbling".Lol, I only keep 32 of them in rotating display. The rest are bagged and in a storage container in the closet. I do have a lot of toys on display though. My friend brought his kid over and said.,"woah, don't touch anything, this is like a toy museum" ahahaha
I have got to see your she cave!! You two must have an amazing display!

Here's my display, it's usually whatever I last bought. Though the top one has been Lego Movie for a while.

That's... awesome! Love it. Where did you get the display cases?
Those are some pretty small cables!

Don’t miss our LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Building Event on Sat., 8/27 from 12-2pm!
Is this just for kids under 13? Their special builds usually are and it always frustrates me.
Barnes & Noble is wrapping out their promotions for The LEGO Batman Movie and for their last event for the movie is a building event for a mini Batmobile. This exclusive version of the Speedwagon is different from the 30521 polybag so if you want to collect everthing for the movie, you should participate in the event. The Make & Take event is held next Saturday, March 11. The times vary so you will have to find out what time a particular store will be holding the event.
At the finale for our three-month celebration of The LEGO Batman Movie, kids will be able to help Batman protect Gotham from the Joker by making their very own LEGO Batman Speedwagon! Kids can also collect the final two limited edition trading cards featuring characters from the movie. Join us for this fun LEGO Make & Take event (while supplies last).
Have you walked into a LEGO Store looking for a particular set but end up finding out that it is an exclusive set to another store? One example is The Penguin Arctic Roller (70911) which is actually a Target exclusive so you can only find that set there.
After many customer complaints, what I am hearing is that there will no longer be store exclusives and LEGO Stores will start carrying all the sets from a particular wave. This means that stores like Target, Walmart, and Toys R Us will no longer be the place to go for one set. Of course you can buy the set on Shop@Home but if you’re already at a LEGO Store, why wait for shipping on it.
There’s no word on when the change will take effect but I’m already seeing the Arkham Asylum (70912) at LEGO Stores which was previously a Toys R Us exclusive.
Yep there is a big industry for busting up sets and farming out the pieces / minifigures.

60th anniversary sets

And in keeping up with the celebration, Walmart will be selling a bundle of 10702 and a tan baseplate for the low, low price of $5.65. Price is good on February 3rd, 7th, and 11th while supplies last.
To those out west, 99 cent only stores have been selling Lego Dimension Funpacks for $1.99. Target sells the same packs for over $20.
Last year around this time, 99 Cents Only Stores started carrying various LEGO Dimensions including Fun Packs and Team Packs. It looks like they’re doing it again this year as a number of stores around the country are selling them again for only $1.99 each which is a great deal on some retired and soon to be retired expansion packs. All of the packs are still currently working even though LEGO Dimensions has been officially cancelled but there will be no new content. It seems that the 99 Cents stores have different inventories so I can say for sure which store has what so you’ll have to check out what your location has.

We had 12 people working on this and we were only able to get through 4 bags.Out of curiosity, which dish did/will you go with: classic circle or next-gen rectangle?

The 2019 Nuremberg Toy Fair has kicked off today and our colleagues over at Zusammengebaut has given live updates of some of the summer 2019 LEGO sets that we could expect to see later this year. As usual, photography is not allowed but there are a number of LEGO sets and prices from a variety of themes that we can discuss. Everything is loosely translated from German but we get an idea of what they are. I’ll update as more information comes in.
Some things to note that were not seen at Nuremberg were LEGO Harry Potter, LEGO Toy Story 4, and LEGO BrickHeadz.

San Diego Comic-Con is less than a month away, and as we've come to expect LEGO will have a presence there. In advance of the show, TLG is announcing two new sets based on Overwatch in their continued partnership with Blizzard Entertainment. 75976 Wrecking Ball and 75977 Junkrat & Roadhog take more iconic characters from the game and convert them into LEGO form, with interesting designs and a bevy of new pieces (like orange Hordika necks!). LEGO is also going to be hosting a Twitch Rivals Overwatch tournament on July 25th and providing a special prize for the winner! You'll be able to see the sets at SDCC and buy them in October, but if you can't wait until then, check out the high-res images and read all about the next wave right now

The LEGO Group Launches New Online Safety Initiative
July 21, 2020 | Toy Association member the LEGO Group has launched a new Small Builds for Big Conversations initiative, which offers families a series of creative challenges to engage in conversations about being a good digital citizen and the importance of online safety.
LEGO has released nine free ‘Build and Talk’ activities to provide parents with simple, fun ways to talk to children ages six to 10 about digital safety and well-being through play. From The Online Explorers to The Watch-Outs, the characters built from LEGO bricks represent both the positive and negative aspects of life online.
“Safety is the No. 1 priority of The Toy Association, and just as it important for kids to play safely in their own backyards, it’s equally important for families to ensure safe play online,” said Leigh Moyers, senior manager of federal government affairs. “This is a perfect example of how our members are taking creative steps to encourage parents to have important conversations with their children about digital safety and citizenship.”
The Toy Association and its Children’s Online Safety Committee continue to be actively involved in state and federal policy discussions concerning children’s online privacy and safety including the Federal Trade Commission’s initiatives to update the 2013 Children’s Online Privacy Protection Rule (COPPA); legislative proposals to create a federal data privacy framework; and the recent enforcement of California’s Consumer Privacy Act. It has also developed a variety of COPPA compliance tools and training materials for Toy Association members over the years.

This is fun! And the first bunch of submission s get a comic sent to their house!
Comic Con may not be happening this year, but that’s not stopping CCI from hosting things virtually. Which really isn’t the same thing but at least it’s something. A lot of vendors are still selling exclusives but one presence that I haven’t heard a peep about is LEGO. I’m not...

Yes please.
Almost all of us in the FoCC Disccord won one. Think we had around a 85% win rate from those that are commenting about it.
Well you are the lucky one.
Now its even harder to come by with everyone signing up for lottery. not just Comic Con attendees.
IDK; the first year LEGO did the lotto I scored a minifig for the first time ever: minimal waiting in line, minimal work, etc. In past years I 'failed' with the (essentially) in-person "lotto" draw. I guess if you approach the whole thing as 'icing on the Comic-Con cake,' and not 'I _REALLY HAVE_ to score a free minifig' then I suspect this is a MUCH better system for most fans. Both systems have (had) their flaws & strengths, it's all about perspective/mindset, I thinkI had grabbed a minifig the first time in line (I think if I remember correctly it was with @alyssa (https://www.friendsofcc.com/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=1) and @Mario Wario (https://www.friendsofcc.com/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=2389))..I even think the fig was...DC atom? I can't remember back that far, haha

You know, I say that, like, a lot, but then you should see the closet I have of (so far) un-built sets ;)I am not a puzzle guy: or a LEGO master builder (or even much of a competent one). Luckily both of my kids are great at that, though, so I live vicariously through them; and often our tastes are similar to they get the LEGO sets I like too :P
And I agree! If this is the caliber of what's coming out the "usual" way, WTH do they have planned for SDCC??
It’s highly unlikely that it will be built from brightly colored plastic bricks, but the Lego Group will be bringing a $1 billion toy manufacturing plant to Chesterfield County’s Meadowville Technology Park, creating more than 1,760 jobs, the company and Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin announced Wednesday during a press conference at the Science Museum of Virginia.....
Lego will begin hiring workers for the moulding, processing and packing plant in late 2022 or early 2023, with plans to reach its full workforce of more than 1,760 workers within 10 years. Lego CEO Niels B. Christiansen said he thinks the average annual salary for employees at the facility will be “north of $60,000.” As part of the project, the company plans to build an onsite solar park that it says will offset 100% of the factory’s power needs.....
