Agents of Shield and Blindspot panels going to be NYCC this year

"The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. are sitting out San Diego Comic-Con for the first time in five years.

The Marvel-based ABC series, heading into its fifth season, will not present a panel at this year’s pop-culture extravaganza (taking place July 20-23), executive producer Maurissa Tancharoen revealed on Twitter.

According to Tancharoen, the show - which doesn’t return until midseason, at some point after Marvel’s Inhumans wraps its eight-episode freshman run (airing Fridays at 9/8c) - will be at New York Comic-Con this October."

Treat this as unofficial or a rumor right now. But this from one editor/reporters from a big industry trades.

From THR editor:

Aaron Couch‏ @AaronCouch

For those bummed #Deadpool2 wasn’t at #SDCC, I hear it’s being saved for New York Comic Con in the fall

Also this quote from an article on THR:

I was actually considering skipping this year (or only going one day), as SDCC has taken a lot out of me but if the panels are interesting, I'll definitely go.

Hey Arnold: The Jungle Movie NYCC Panel Details Revealed

The panel for Hey Arnold: The Jungle Movie is coming to NYCC and we have the details!

Hillwood is coming to New York, and even Stoop Kid is invited. We’ve learned that Nickelodeon is bringing Hey Arnold! to New York Comic Con for a panel on Friday, October 6th at 12:15 p.m.

The panel will be held at Hammerstein Ballroom, which is about a 15 minute walk from the Javits Center, the site of New York Comic Con.

The iconic cartoon is returning to Nickelodeon on November 23rd for an all-new feature length film titled Hey Arnold: The Jungle Movie. To celebrate, Nick is hosting a panel titled “Hey Arnold!: From Hillwood to the Jungle!” featuring creator Craig Bartlett and voice actors from the original series including Lane Toran (Arnold), Francesca Marie Smith (Helga), Anndi McAfee (Phoebe) and Olivia Hack (Rhonda).

The official info for the panel says it will “explore the popularity of the animated series and what to expect when Arnold, Helga, Gerald and all of the Hillwood neighbors return to the TV screen in Hey Arnold!: The Jungle Movie, including an exclusive sneak peek at the TV movie.”

A similar panel took place in July at San Diego Comic-Con where they screened a sneak peek video with the first footage from the movie. Bartlett gave us the inside scoop on the history of the long-awaited Jungle Movie in an exclusive interview earlier this year.

It's weird that SHIELD and Punisher are both on Saturday.

Also, putting them in MSG assures that I will not be attending either. I'm not messing with Walking Dead.

For anyone concerned about MSG craziness, they don't clear panels in between, but last year I did MSG both Friday and Saturday, lined up at 5am, and was sitting in the 3rd row center on Friday and the 4th row center on Saturday (Saturday not only had Walking Dead at the end, but also The Great Wall with Matt Damon and John Wick 2 with Keanu).  It filled up Saturday afternoon for the John Wick panel, but then a lot of people left.  It's really nothing like Hall H.
That said, Mark Hamill and John Boyega are already there, so if there's a Last Jedi panel, obviously that changes everything.

Allow plenty of time to go through security.  They do metal detectors and bag checks and outside food/drinks are NOT allowed in.

Queue Process

We recommend Fans take W 31st St. to 7th Ave. for The Theater at Madison Square Garden, as that will lead directly to the queue locations. There will be two morning queue locations for entry into the building, the South Concourse and North Concourse. The queues will open at approximately 8:00 AM on Friday and Saturday and Staff will be onsite to direct you into the queues. We strongly discourage overnight camping.

For Fans with Medical Assistance needs, we will have a reserved section for the queue available when it opens in the morning. Please head to the front of the queue. If you have any questions, our onsite Staff is available to assist you. Please note: the Medical Assistance queue does not provide you with the ability to skip the line and does not guarantee seating or entry, but provides a queue separate from the main crowd fort those who require Medical Assistance.

Yeah, that's what they said last year. They didn't let anyone into the queue areas until 8 am, but the lines started hours earlier. Before Reedpop people got there, and then they had to decide how to handle it. On Friday, it was just one line, so they told us to line up 4 people across, put one half in one queue and the other half in the other queue. On Saturday, two lines formed to start with. Not sure what will happen this year, but the lines don't start at 8.

A lot of exciting stuff. I can't wait for the Dirk Gently panel.

Apparently about half of the main stage seats will be raffled off ahead of time. I have a bad feeling that that will make it crazy hard to get anything on the day of without lining up very early.

I could see them wanting to clear it out and get people in.  I find it odd Walking Dead and Fear of the Walking dead are separate.

Keanu Reeves Bringing Sci-Fi Movie 'Replicas' to New York Comic Con

The actor plays a scientist who attempts to bring his late family back to life with cutting edge cloning.

Keanu Reeves is making a return trip to New York Comic Con.

The actor, who made a big splash last year with a big John Wick: Chapter 2 panel, will bring the first footage from his sci-fi feature Replicas to the convention next month.

Replicas stars Reeves as scientist who becomes obsessed with the idea of bringing his family back to life after they are killed in a car crash. His choice of resurrection? Cutting edge cloning technology. Alice Eve also stars as Reeves' wife, with Silicon Valley star Thomas Middleditch also among the cast.

Reeves will be onhand Thursday, Oct. 5 from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. in room 1A06 for the Replicas panel, which also features director Jeffrey Nachmanoff and producer Stephen Hamel.

Lorenzo di Bonaventura is also producing Replicas, with a script by London Has Fallen writer Chad St. John.

New York Comic Con runs Oct. 5-8.

So, NYCC n00b here. I noticed that on Sat, the Madison Square Garden panels don't start until 2pm. Is it typical for those panels to start that late? Or is it likely that a panel will be added before the 2pm panel? How early do people usually start lining up for the MSG panels? It's my understanding that they don't clear the room between panels at MSG, so I imagine this is more of a Hall H situation, with people lining up early so they can camp all day.
Title: Re: NYCC 2017 Panels and Screenings
Post by: jamiesugah on September 11, 2017, 10:54:45 AM
This is only the second year for panels at MSG, so it's not like there's a real pattern to look at. However, NYCC is always adding panels, so it's possible that there will be something added earlier than 2pm, especially considering that it's Saturday.

I didn't attend any MSG panels last year, but I know the line started early. However, I believe you're not "officially" allowed to line up until 8am?

Oh, also, MSG does not allow outside food/beverages.
Title: Re: NYCC 2017 Panels and Screenings
Post by: sefton42 on September 11, 2017, 11:02:28 AM
I did MSG panels both days last year, if the lines were "unofficial" they were "official unofficial."  Basically, there are two entrances.  There are metal snake barricades near both entrances.  You're not allowed into those barricades before 8 am.  However, the lines formed outside of those barricades and went around the corner well before 8am.  Earliest people in line got there around 5am.

And yes, last year they were adding panels there until just beforehand.  I think the panel for The Great Wall was announced about a week before.
Title: Re: NYCC 2017 Panels and Screenings
Post by: sefton42 on September 11, 2017, 11:05:17 AM
But one important thing -- they don't let you out of the barricades and inside to go through security until either 30 minutes or 60 minutes before the first panel.  So on Friday last year, when the first panel started at 10, it was no big deal.  But on Saturday, the first panel started at noon I think -- so once we got into the barricades, we were standing there a loooooooooong time.

When they did the news dump of panels recently...they did say "first wave of panels" so I assume there's more. They seems to be announcing guests/panels right up until the con or so.

Attended The Wall & Power Rangers/John Wick 2 panels last year with no problem (I wasn't aiming to get into The Wall but for John Wick 2 lol). I think the best tip/advice I can give is if you really really want in...get there as soon as you can and prepare to camp out there

I came in after the wall for John Wick 2 no problem.   It was closer to the Walking dead it filled up.  I left though so someone got my seat :)   NYCC isn't like SDCC.  People are more relaxed about things and their world doesn't end if they miss something.

Yeah I didn't get into Jessica Jones/Daredevil couple years ago so I went to the Containment panel...and glad I did even though the show lasted one season lol. If a panel fills up at Hammerstein or MSG, I'll be like "oh no big deal, I'll just go back to Javitz and see what's up" lol

You can't sit in the first few rows in Hall H.  They all go to ADA who go in first and who save for there friends coming in from the other line.   I watched it all occur one morning.   I did luck out though and 2 people were leaving after the first panel and specifically gave me their seats.

Well maybe, just maybe on a slow day you could get the 3rd row.

They added a bunch of stuff at the NYPL on Thursday, but you need to have a Pro badge to get in to those. (I'm a little bummed, the creator of my favorite webcomic is on a panel for that. She almost never does panels.)

So i wonder are they going to replace it with anything or just have a 3 hour gap from 4:45 till walking dead at 7:45. I wonder how that will impact getting into the walkng dead panel. Are people still going to just stay in the room and wait the 3 hours. They should change the start time of the walking dead panel to earlier.

Based on last year, I think you can assume a 3 hour gap. And that people who got there early in the morning for front row seats to the Walking Dead panel will stay in there the whole time.
But it probably will make it easier to get into the panel because I imagine a lot of people will be leaving after Discovery.

Marvel replaced the Punisher panel they had today with a Stan Lee Interview Screening:

Joe Quesada Presents: My Chat with Stan Lee - An Exclusive Screening

October 07, 2017, 5:15 PM - 7:00 PM

The Theater at Madison Square Garden

On April 14th 2017, Stan Lee and Joe Quesada sat down for a very intimate and entertaining conversation at the Paley Center to benefit The Hero Initiative. With attendance purposely limited, this extremely candid interview about Stan’s life and Marvel Comics has only been seen and enjoyed by the 125 people that were in the audience that day. Marvel and The Hero Initiative are now providing NYCC attendees with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to attend an exclusive screening of this interview and experience Stan as he answers questions that he has rarely been asked and reveals never-before-heard stories and thoughts on some of the greatest moments in his personal life, professional career, and the history of Marvel.

Theater at the garden was a walk in at 5pm on Saturday. Was able to go to the Ash Vs Evil Dead cast signing and the Jack Ryan cast signing at the Javitz then get over to the theater for the walking dead. Happy and kind if surprised it worked out so well.

Rough and not professionally done but here’s the audio of the talk back panel

TL;DL some main points summarized here http://www.comicsbeat.com/nycc-2017-nycc-staff-qa-lots-of-good-but-could-always-be-better/ but doesn't have the dynamic of the official verbal responses.

edit:  Alyssa gave us a 5-minute recap on Talkin' Comic-Con today!
