Title: Lego
Post by: Michael M on April 05, 2015, 05:35:15 am
So I probably shouldn't ask this, cause then if I start getting answers I'll start going in the direction of adding another type of collectible to the list of things I o collect...but anyways...

While wandering around at the philly show this weekend, there were a couple of vendors that had individual lego figs...now, as much as I know, the only way to get individual figures is to buy the sets that have other things (like the GotG set gets you the ship you need to build, along with a couple figs)...the figures aren't available on their own.

So, do these vendors just buy boxes and boxes of these sets, and then just sell the individual figures?

Thanks for the n00b question. - M

Are these figures carded?  Carded single figures are available in the SDCC Lego lottery.  Each day there is a raffle for carded exclusive figures during Comic-Con.  The lines are crazy long.

Individual figures are also available in blind packages at retail.

They weren't carded, just individual figs out on display.  I should have taken pictures.  So silly question...how does one know if they're genuine, if they're not in any packaging?  I was looking specifically at the Marvel ones.

i ran into a guy selling lego at the Boston Comic Con today.  I posted the pick i took in the booth in the BCC thread. http://friendsofcc.com/forum/index.php?topic=4104.msg130659#msg130659

they were $5 each.  on further chatting with the guy he was very clear that they were not genuine lego's but by a china knock off.  they looked and felt just like lego mini fig.

I actually bought some of the knockoffs in Malaysia last year.  They come individually packed in a fake lego box with a generic knockoff lego logo.  They do come close to lego quality but you can tell the difference when you hold them.

Lego also sells individual minifigures in blind bags. They are up to the 14th Series of those now. Each series has 16 figures and they cost $3-$4 each depending on where you buy them. Sometimes they will sell a minifigure on it's own in a polybag, that's how I got my Rocket Raccoon minifigure. He was just on an endcap at Toys R Us one weekend when I was there.

I dabble in minifigure collecting. I probably have about 100 of them.

Lol, I only keep 32 of them in rotating display. The rest are bagged and in a storage container in the closet. I do have a lot of toys on display though.  My friend brought his kid over and said.,"woah, don't touch anything, this is like a toy museum" ahahaha

Here's my display, it's usually whatever I last bought. Though the top one has been Lego Movie for a while.

Barnes & Noble is wrapping out their promotions for The LEGO Batman Movie and for their last event for the movie is a building event for a mini Batmobile. This exclusive version of the Speedwagon is different from the 30521 polybag so if you want to collect everthing for the movie, you should participate in the event. The Make & Take event is held next Saturday, March 11. The times vary so you will have to find out what time a particular store will be holding the event.

At the finale for our three-month celebration of The LEGO Batman Movie, kids will be able to help Batman protect Gotham from the Joker by making their very own LEGO Batman Speedwagon! Kids can also collect the final two limited edition trading cards featuring characters from the movie. Join us for this fun LEGO Make & Take event (while supplies last).

Great news for the hunt, from http://www.thebrickfan.com/lego-brand-stores-to-start-carrying-store-exclusive-sets/

Quote
Have you walked into a LEGO Store looking for a particular set but end up finding out that it is an exclusive set to another store? One example is The Penguin Arctic Roller (70911) which is actually a Target exclusive so you can only find that set there.

After many customer complaints, what I am hearing is that there will no longer be store exclusives and LEGO Stores will start carrying all the sets from a particular wave. This means that stores like Target, Walmart, and Toys R Us will no longer be the place to go for one set. Of course you can buy the set on Shop@Home but if you’re already at a LEGO Store, why wait for shipping on it.

There’s no word on when the change will take effect but I’m already seeing the Arkham Asylum (70912) at LEGO Stores which was previously a Toys R Us exclusive.

Limited edition, collectible LEGO® Star Wars™ VIP Card

Get your special edition membership card when you buy the Millennium Falcon™ (75192) and enjoy a full year of LEGO® Star Wars™ themed benefits!

Who is eligible for the LEGO® Star Wars™ VIP Card?

All VIP Members that purchase the Millennium Falcon™ (75192), including members signing up for the first time. This includes all countries VIP operates in, including countries that don’t normally receive physical membership cards. For country list, please see VIP.LEGO.com/terms.

How will I receive my card?

The card will be sent via postal mail - please note that cards are not available in Brand Retail Stores. These will also be sent via post to ensure they're personalised and if applicable, linked to a pre-existing account. This means that all previously earned points will be available on the new card and it will already be activated. The original account will need to be fully registered by December 31, 2017.

What does the card do?

Card holders will still receive all standard VIP benefits, in addition, they'll be eligible for a full year of special Star Wars-themed offers throughout 2018.

What are the special offers that this card entitles a member to?

Special offers will include points promotions, special events, gifts with purchase and more! The offers will be shared directly with applicable VIPs throughout 2018.

Will the VIP Number on this card be different from my regular VIP card?

Existing members will keep their existing number. It will be printed on both their original card and the Star Wars™ collectible one. They can be used interchangeably.

Can I obtain this card without purchasing the Millennium Falcon™ (75192)?

Unfortunately not. This card is meant as a special gift with the purchase of the Millennium Falcon™ (75192).

Why can’t I have my card right when I purchase the Millennium Falcon™ (75192) in a LEGO® Brand Retail Store?

This is to ensure the card is linked to any existing VIP accounts and personalized with the member's name, they need to be custom-printed, which is not possible at the Store.

How long is the card available for?

The collectible card is a limited-time offer until 12/31, or while stocks last.

How long will it take to receive the card?

It can take up to 6 weeks after purchase of the Millennium Falcon™ (75192) to receive the card.

I so want that Lego Death Star, but getting that would then put me down the path of yet another hobby that scares me cause of the cost...
