For those who might be planning to use path or NJ transit. There's been major train accident this morning at Hoboken Terminal:

The accident is major enough that there will likely be delays and service changes impacting NJ Transit for the foreseeable future, i.e. impacting visitation to NYCC.

Do you think it'll still have an impact even a week from now....I normally do take NJ transit to NYCC all 4 days but I do have a transfer at Secaucus. Contemplating of  whether or not to take a bus or not (train is easier for me since I can pay round trip and pay credit card....can't really do that with bus I normally take Coach/Shortline)

Yeah honestly I'm not sure. The damage to the station was pretty extensive. But it may only impact trains going into/leaving that station.

??? If this results in buses not operating from NJ to NYC, I'm screwed. My whole NYCC itinerary hinges on being able to take the bus into NYC daily.
Any news?

I work in Hoboken, Walk through the Hoboken Terminal every day. I'm fine my light rail was running a few minutes late, got in at about 8:35 and the accident occurred at 8:45 (some co-workers were even closer) basically the train station is shut down, there were no trains into the Hoboken Terminal at all. That said the NJ Light Rail was open again and the Path is also working.

So the Path as some of you know (and for those that don't) connects you from Hoboken and puts you in Manhattan on 33rd street just about a block away from Madison Square Garden.

SO the answer is if you can get into Hoboken using the light rail, I know a lot of people can also use Essex Street as a semi-hub where you could jump onto the Hoboken Light Rail, get into Hoboken and jump onto the path. In either case as of now I would not rely on NJ Transit Trains to get you into Hoboken

Yeah I don't normally stop in Hoboken when taking the train to NYC. I get off at Secaucus and switch trains...which then takes me straight to Penn Station. So not sure if that may affect my commute next week since I don't go all the way down to Hoboken.

check the secaucus line, odds are they are running on time but stopping at the stop right before hoboken. i don't take the trains so i'm not sure if they do multiple stops if it's just a few then they basically only stop in hoboken

Hello all
This will be my first time at NYCC. I will be staying in North Bergen NJ, The hotel says that they have a shuttle service that runs from 6am till Midnight. it says it drops you off at the Port Authority. It seems like there is more then one, Also what is an ideal time to leave.
Thanks and I look forward to chatting with you all.

i stay in union city in jersy. the shuttle bus i take cost $3 per ride & will even drop me off closer to the river in manhatten then PA. It may be the same shuttle buss. it's not on any web site i've found.

if it's not the same service, you can catch my bus & uber it from where it drops u off. much cheaper then urbering from Manhattan.  when everything is running well, it usually takes 15 min to PA, the tunnel traffic is the gating factor

Thank you Alyssa. I was told that it would cost $3, so maybe the same.

This is what I always do when I visit NY.  It's very convenient and saves money.
