Just got back home from the 2017 Columbia Gorge International Film Festival, aka 2017 Festival Angaelica in Big Bear Lake, California that showed my short doc "Dogs to the Rescue."  I had an amazing time.

Even though attendance was relatively low during the festival's opening hours, I was grateful to have 25 people in the audience when my short doc was shown.  I also got to see two other feature docs, "Outcaste: The House that Carol Built," about a woman's dream to build a house in a very unique location and "Chosen (Custody of the Eyes)", about a blogger and painter who decides to train to become a nun.  I also saw another short doc, "Nobody Dies Here," about miners digging for gold in Benin, in some cases dying in the process.  As for my movie, I've been working for film festivals for 15 years and always witnessed Q&As from the audience, so it was VERY weird that I was the subject of the Q&A!  I can't describe what it was like for me when Vivian, the theater programmer, called me down to the stage and I took questions from her and the audience.  One audience member liked my narration.  I told him I was told by the sound person that he thought I had a radio voice.  All in all it was a very positive experience!  I left early because it was expected to drop to 37 degrees Fahrenheit/3 degrees Celsius in Big Bear that evening and the thought of sleeping outside in a tent didn't sit well with me, but I sure would have stayed much longer if it weren't for the cold weather.

I'll be posting pics once I get back from breakfast.

I agree with TardisMom;, that sounds like a life-changing experience! I'm glad you had the chance to show your film and that you were pleased and comfortable being the spotlight in the Q&A. I hope this gives your documentary some traction!
