San Francisco Comic Con will return June 8-10, 2018 to the Oakland Convention Center! It’s a quick and easy 20-25 minute BART ride from our previous venue.Despite our best efforts, the City of San Francisco will not allow San Francisco Comic Con to return to the Moscone Center. After such a sensationally successful 2017 San Francisco Comic Con, it was disappointing as the Moscone Center was the perfect venue to facilitate continued growth in the coming years. The City of San Francisco remains opposed to “consumer events” at the Moscone Center-that is, events that are publicly ticketed, and not professional “tradeshows”. To our knowledge, the San Francisco Auto Show is now the only publicly ticketed event held at the Moscone Center. San Francisco Comic Con is a fun, colorful, exciting, family-friendly event. It’s a shame that the fun of pop-culture and the arts is of so little value to those in charge at Moscone, and the sterile boredom of tradeshows is valued so highly. We urge you to contact San Francisco Convention & Visitors Bureau president, Joe D'Alessandro at [email protected] (415) 974‑6900, and let your thoughts be heard. With that being said, we are excited for the June 8-10, 2018, San Francisco Comic Con at the Oakland Convention Center! Announcements will begin early in 2018. sanfrancomiccon.com
I haven't been, but Matt Smith was just announced.
I'm toying with the idea of checking this out this year. Thoughts from anyone who attended last year?
It’s this weekend...is anyone going?(Also, last year’s topic was 5 pages...this year’s is barely 1, so far. I guess nobody cares now that it’s not in SF... :O )
I just got back from SFCC and i hate to say this was the most disappointing year. I've been going since year one and have loved it both of the last two years, but this time something felt off. Maybe it was the con floor feeling almost over crowded. Or maybe it was Parking situation, or perhaps it was what felt like an odd lack of fan participation (my daughter tried to help by wearing her Muana costume). What ever it was, the wow factor that I've felt there in previous years wasnt there. I wont say anything about the location as i know SFCC has been searching for a "forever home" since it first rolled out. I will however give them credit in at least one area, they set up (IMO) one of the most well organized celebrity signing areas i have ever seen at a con, especially considering the limited space they had to work with.If it is the same location next year i will probably go again in hopes that this year was just them "working out the kinks". But we shall see.
