What would a world full of people just like 'you' look like?
« on: January 15, 2018, 07:43:17 AM »
Random thought for the day/week.

my 'me' world
wouldn't have extremes /shouting would be banned/
would have 'migraine' days
it would have interesting and different cheap food places on every corner /too many cooks not enough dishwashers/

My world would have Casual Friday every day,
Iced tea would be the drink of choice,
Everyone would have paper "to do" lists, and
No one would talk during my tv shows.

When I saw the subject the first thing I thought of was that nightmarish scene from Being John Malkovich, but I like your take better :)

Desks and offices would be complete messes but gym weights and shopping carts would ALWAYS be returned to an appropriate location.

The bottom would drop out of the leek industry but the vermouth business would boom.

Library fines would become significant revenue generators for local governments.

TV networks would start running special "insomniac hours" programming.

Thw world would have more singing but less dancing.

Haha, the desk and offices part and the bit with shopping carts fits me to a capital T.  I know I need to walk more so I'll either move a shopping cart to a designated cart area (pet peeve, people who leave carts in parking stalls!) or even back to the front of the market.   :)

Ron, I can see this depiction of characters in your world.

Everyone would wear relaxed fit clothes.
Everyone would have tons of unfinished projects.
Books are stacked from the floor and used as furniture and surfaces. (You know I'm going to be one of those ghosts that stack books)
Your home is a junk museum filled with tchochkes and machinery of yesteryear.
More importantly, everyone is oddly interested in the niche, thus creating more unfinished projects and more junk in your home.

No one would wear formal clothing.
Fried chicken, sausages, and butter would lower your cholesterol.
Saturday and Sunday would be the work week, Monday to Friday would be the weekend.
Zach Snyder would not be allowed to make movies.
Fallout 4 would be a MMORPG.
X-Men comics would be great again.
Schools would get all the money they need and the military would have to hold bake sales.

What are you, Worf? Do you tremble and quake with fear at the approach of combat? Hoping to talk your way out of a fight like a Human? Or do you hear the cry of the warrior, calling you to battle, calling you to glory like a Klingon?

My world would be similar to most developed Western industrialized democracies in which there would be universal healthcare for everyone, free tuition at universities and a cradle-to-grave welfare system (check out Norway).  And that all presidential candidates would have to undergo a psychiatric examination by impartial psychiatrists appointed to a panel by the American Psychiatric Association.

I've always like this saying.

“The true measure of a man/woman is how he treats someone who can do him/her absolutely no good.” ... You can tell the character of a person by how he treats those who can do nothing for him. If you do something for somebody and they can't do anything for you, that says a lot about you as a person.

LOL, there's this movie where Meryl Streep (?) is being judged after death, before determining if she will go to heaven or not. One of the things she loves about the afterlife is that you can eat as much as you want and never gain weight, so in every scene she is eating.

I totally want that!!!!!!

I subconsciously married someone who is in most way my opposite: temperament, problem-solving approach, etc.  Our opposites typically compliment each other, and we share enough similarities to make life great.  Both of our sons seem to be a pretty great mixed-blend of the two of us, with the older skewing closer to my wife and the younger skewing closer to me.  I think what I'm getting at is that it seems the world is not meant to have even a 2nd version of me, and I think that's likely what's best for the universe.  I love that our culture and world is so richly diverse, and I continually grow by listening and learning from artists, scholars, political-thinkers, etc. who are very different from me.  I wouldn't want to even think about a homogeneous world where I only hear from people with the same world-view, political thoughts, etc.  Conversely, I love being able to turn people on to new music, films, art, etc. who don't come from my sensibilities and may have missed something really cool because it's off their radar (here's where I remind everyone if they're not watching "The Good Place" they're missing out on the smartest, funniest show on network TV).
