Okay I just went to check for myself and didn't see it on the Anaheim Convention Center website. This is what I saw...

You can see that those dates are blank, but certainly they're not 'booked'. Is there some other site where you found this?

That's very interesting! I didn't know about this site so thank you for pointing it out.

However the attendance estimate is strange. Only 17,000 people? This is less than half of last year's attendance...

Yep, I did the same thing. This is especially important for us, because we like to stay at the Paradise Pier Hotel, to make it easy to do both Disney and the Con. Disney tends to sell out during Spring Break, so I figured I should get in my reservations while I could!

ETA   And I just realized, that's Easter weekend again! My guess is that CCI is being so wishy washy about this Con that Easter was the only date left when they tried to book.

That's interesting.  I'm disappointed that the organizers are going back on their promise to have Wondercon in San Francisco.  I was hoping at least for an alternate show in the SF Bay Area.

There is APE, but it's very different from WonderCon.

It's possible that CCI is still trying to get Moscone dates, which might be why they haven't announced the Anaheaim dates yet. You never know...

You are more of an optimist than me.  I think WC is permanently gone from SF.  :'(

The pessimist from me fears this, but the optimist in me wonders why CCI would officially 'express a desire to move back to San Francisco' if they weren't actually trying to do so. If they just wanted to stay in Anaheim, they would simply avoid mentioning San Francisco at all, and/or make a statement that there are no current plans to move back to San Francisco. Wouldn't they?

Regardless, I suspect the Con will be in Anaheim again in 2014, and if it is gone for 3 years, it's pretty much a final death knell for coming back to San Francisco.

Two words (that I've been saying from the beginning): Damage control.

Except that it's kind of ridiculous for them to continue saying that now that they're not fooling anyone anymore.

Exactly my point. It's been so long that there's no point to 'damage control'. The damage has already been done.

Now presuming this is true, why haven't they announced the WonderCon 2014 dates yet? They already have dates booked in Anaheim, according to that convention bureau site.

If Wondercon is gone from SF I'm beyond flabbergasted as to why another event organizer like Wizardworld hasn't stepped in to make a show to replace Wondercon for SF Bay Area.  There's a huge market here ready to hand over our hard earned dollars for a chance to buy and sell comics and to cosplay but there ain't...
