So you got this info from a volunteering group!
Thanks for the scoop!
Although... this is inconsistent with what we heard from the programming director back at the con, when he said it would be 'in March'.
I look forward to the return of Silicon Valley Comic Con next year in either March or April. (The program guide said March. An announcement over the loudspeaker said April.)
From http://www.bizjournals.com/sanjose/news/2016/07/13/dont-be-caught-by-surprise-silicon-valley-comic.html:
"Comic Con’s April 21-23, 2017, return has also booked the Tech Museum’s South Hall, the City National Civic and California Theatre to hold the celebrity appearances, science and technology discussions, panels and other things that have not yet been announced."
VIP passes are $250 for Gold and $550 for Platinum. As of now, it looks like there are 663 Gold and 229 Platinum passes left.
I find the hotel situation odd this year. The Hilton is still not an available hotel at con rates and the Marriott only has rooms for a max of two people per room.
Last year, both hotels had rooms for up to four per room right from the time tickets were available.
Did you guys see that Steven Yeun is coming? Wow, he booked that fast!
In case anyone is interested but not on their mailing list SVCC is selling some "holiday" ticket and t-shirt bundles. The first price is the regular price, second price is the sale one. Been seeing the billboard ads on 101 for a while now. I also didn't realize how many TNG actors are going to be there.

Thanks SO MUCH for posting this update. I got us booked at the $179 rate so I can cancel my non con rate room.
I had been checking daily but started slacking off because it never changed. You rock! 8)
So they have announced a 'Space Ball' for Saturday night, but the prices are pretty high. $150 gets you a basic ticket, and you can double that if you want to go to the VIP Party.

For that price, I think I'll just be at the FoCC meetup. ;)
If you just want to make sure you see Grant Gustin at the panel, the regular VIP is the better option at $250 (versus $450 for Grant). Last year for the BTTF panel, the regular VIPs and the 'single panel VIPs' all got together in the same line and had the same access. And the $250 VIP gets you in first to EVERY panel, not just one of them.Exactly! And the $450 Grant VIP doesn't even include access to the con itself. Btw, it has been confirmed, if anyone wants his autograph, you must buy the $199 VIP that has it, or the crazy $450.
Just saying....
Btw, this isn't his first con appearance. He has been to SDCC and other cons as well. Sure, he never had his own booth but he has been around. I find it silly they didn't double check that.
I'm considering the Star Trek TNG photo op. I saw that Levar Burton has cancelled. I also noticed that Michael Dorn's guest listing is gone and that his name is gone from the photo op. Now added to the photo is Denise Crosby and Robert O'Reilly (Gowron) from the show. Has anyone heard whether Michael Dorn cancelled? Grant Gustin and Michael Felton are great additions BTW. Thanks!

Hey strangers!
I told my wife that Grant Gustin will be there on Sunday now she's all about it, lol. She's a a Gleek and a Flash Fanatic.
Does anyone know if i purchased a pic the $150 version for Gustin, would that be for just that 1 person, or can 1 more person get in on that?
How many people are allowed to pose in the Photo Op?
You can have up to three other people (for a total of four) in the Photo Op with you unless specifically stated. Infants 1 year and younger do not count towards this total. If you are taking a group photo, you can wait in the VIP line if at least one member of the group has a VIP pass. If you want more than four people in your picture, you must purchase a second Photo Op.
I would send them an email. They still have an individual photo op with Michael Dorn being sold on the site, so it's confusing.
Saw that Drew Struzan signings are $50 as well.
The San Jose Public Library is offering a 20% discount with code SJPL20! Valid only on regular or child 1 or 3 day passes (does not apply to VIP, senior/military discount, photo-ops, autographs, or other purchases):
https://www.sjpl.org/blog/silicon-valley-comic-con-2017
VIP Platium pass gets you inside the TNG panel with reserved seating. VIP Gold does not do that; you can line up 1 hour sooner, but you have to buy a ticket if you want the extra stuff, according to today's email about the panel.
What it looked like to me with the gold VIPs (which is what we have) was that you could use the VIP line to get in, bt you wouldn't be allowed into the VIP seating inside unless you got a Captain's CHair ticket.Thinking the same but it has this in the email for Gold: "Your VIP pass package does NOT include access to this panel." So I don't know what they are pointing to. I too have Gold VIP and this email is not great regarding this.
They just opened up ticket purchases for the 'premier panel' of the TNG reunion, moderated by William Shatner. This is similar to the BTTF panel last year. Tickets are $10, or $40 if you want VIP seating. Supposedly people who have VIP badges to the con will have 'special benefits', which I'm guessing means that you can get into the VIP seating while paying the GA price.
...and my jaw dropped as they just announced the original cast of SESAME STREET.

“You've never seen a street like Sesame Street before. Everything happens here. You're gonna love it!” - Gordon
Just like Sesame Street, the best things happen… at Silicon Valley Comic Con!! Let your inner child (& your real kids) free-we’re bringing the beloved ORIGINAL cast of Sesame Street to #SVCC, including: Gordon himself (Roscoe Orman), Caroll Spinney (Big Bird & Oscar the Grouch), Alison Bartlett (Gina), Bob McGrath (Bob Johnson) & Emilio Delgado (Luis)!
Just a reminder that we currently have a table booked at Il Fornaio (in the Fairmont Hotel, across the street from the Convention Center) for 6:30 pm on Saturday, April 22. I know Mark has RSVP'd, but anyone else planning to come, please LMK!Me and my brother will be there. :) Not missing this.
Me and my brother will be there. :) Not missing this.
I called the Hilton yesterday to get the hotel confirmation number for my reservation placed through SVCC and they had no record of it.
SVCC had said after April 5th to contact the hotel direct for any issues. I emailed SVCC but they indicated that they would respond in 3-4 days so I'm waiting to hear if they just haven't sent the info to the hotels yet or if I have a problem.
Has anyone else gotten confirmation from the hotels of their reservation?
I apologize for the confusion.
The data will be transferred to the Hilton tomorrow, April 12th. They should have your reservation in their system by Thursday.
However, your reservation is confirmed in my system. J
Thank you,
Karla

I read somewhere that there's going to be outdoor activities this year. Are there any details on that stuff anywhere? Or am I thinking of a different con?
Yeah, people paying to take a picture with Carrie Fisher's DOG? Really? Seems a little much.Well, if it goes to his care, I would consider it, mostly for that reason. He is a therapy dog too.
But then, I suppose there are people who will do this...

I'm excited about the panels! IMHO this is a far better lineup than they had at WonderCon. Between the 'big name' panels and the science panels, I have a lot to do! There are even overlapping panels causing me to make hard choices. And I'm eager to see what they do with the expanded exhibit floor and the outdoor space.I'm going to agree. The lineup is looking good! Can't wait to get there on Friday.
I agree! Last year was fun but this year is a big step up panel wise.
More artists is a big plus also.
Finally got my confirmation number from the hotel so I am ready, ready, ready!
The Exhibitor link doesn't work, but I found the page and apparently it has been up:

As an aside, is there anyone else who wants to come to dinner a Il Fornaio on Saturday at 6:30 pm?
I don't think I'll be able to make it ( family stuff) but dinner AND a floor show is tempting. :D
See an "Adam Savage Cosplay Workshop and Lounge" on the map.
If anyone is a Godzilla fan, "Lenzations" is a great choice for a commission, does great pencil drawings. Be ready though, if you ask for Godzilla he may ask what movie or what year. (I don;t know him personally but have purchased from him in the past.)
I LOVE him! I talked to him for a while at WonderCon. He is amazing.
Can't freaking wait! I will be there around 4pm tomorrow. Also can't wait to try out the VIP.
We were just recently informed that Burt and Adam will not be doing a panel. They are exclusively signing autographs and photo ops.
Thanks for reaching out,
McKenzie, SVCC
Noooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!
Our staff was disappointed as well. We’re happy they’re coming, but a panel would have been really fun. Let me know if you have any other questions!
Thanks again,
McKenzie, SVCC
TJ, did you fill your table for Saturday night?
Room for 3 ? Bringing my daughter and granddaughter if there's room
That's totally fine. We can take the three of you, My kids will be there as well.
Anyone else who is interested in the Saturday night dinner, 6:30 pm at Il Fornaio? Last call!
Sounds like fun, but I can't make it as I'll be watching Star Trek Continues followed by Better off Dead. But have fun! & one of these times I will make it!
Probably won't affect people, but with Bay area traffic you never know. Saw that there is an event at Levi Stadium Saturday evening, and sure enough it's (deep voice) MONSTER JAM!
And you know there's going to be a ton of crossover visitors who attend both SVCC and Monster Jam... ;)
FWIW, I have used Growtix multiple times and never had an issue. But I hope yours gets resolved, Mario! If their system is bad, it has to be recent. I, too, used them before, just find it funny what happened to his card, pretty much the same thing was happening--how quickly it started and what time the charges got started. I got a new card, just my bro is minus one on this trip. He has another just stinks this happened.
It was great to see Mario, Mark and Janray at dinner tonight. Thank you all for coming! Hope to see you around the con tomorrow!

Silicon Valley Comic Con CEO Trip Hunter said Sunday that while the numbers were incomplete for this weekend, he thought they would be as strong as or stronger than 2016, when more than 60,000 attended.
Hunter reiterated that no matter how popular the convention gets, it won’t ever move to San Francisco or Los Angeles, like the last big Bay Area convention, WonderCon, did a few years ago.
“We’re not moving. That’s Woz’s directive,” Hunter said of the Silicon Valley resident, who has taught fifth-grade computer classes in local schools. “He just doesn’t have interest in doing this somewhere else.”

Thanks for organizing the dinner! Was great to you all. Mario also unwittingly provided the idea for the next fantasy football writeup.Lol! Glad to help! ;) And no problem about the ice cream. Next time!
I have two apologies to make. 1. I never sang, (this might not be that bad of a thing.) 2. I had 10 astronaut ice cream sandwiches in my backpack the whole time and forgot completely about it until I got back to my car. :(
People haven't discovered my super secret lunch spot.Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

Nice write-up and pictures :) At the panels, did they have big screens of the panelists behind them? I only see the Silicon Valley logo screen behind them.
Guys I'm so so sorry I missed it and missed catching up with my fellow Bay Area FoCC members. I totally wanted to be there but honestly life has been overwhelming and I actually forgot! Mario and TJ you guys were supposed to remind me!! Would've loved to see you guys but sound like you had a ton of fun. Next year I promise!!It's all good--we understand. As TJ said, I thought the same thing as well. Next time and hey, we have Comic-Con coming up, so we can catch up during that time.
SAN JOSE — April 27, 2017 — Silicon Valley Comic Con (SVCC), Steve Wozniak’s wildly successful pop culture and technology expo, took over downtown San Jose the weekend of April 21-23, welcoming more than 65,000 guests over the course of the three-day show. This year’s theme of “The Future of Humanity: Where Will We Be in 2075?” featured a Space Village, NASA space exploration panels, robotics, virtual reality, a Kids S.T.E.A.M. Lab, celebrity appearances, leading comic book artists and authors, cosplay contests, a science fair, Geek Fashion Show, Rover.com dog cosplay contest, transportation provided by Acura’s NSX supercar and more. SVCC 2.0 also saw massive physical expansions and layout changes, adding a free public outdoor festival, programming at City National Civic and hosting registration inside South Hall. Silicon Valley Comic Con will return to San Jose the weekend of April 6-8, 2018.
My photo album for SVCC is up. I was there all three days so there are still yet more photos to process. It was a great con. It was a great kid-friendly con with a lot of stuff to do. Definitely going back next year!
