the ground aquifer? they're not talking about reservoirs right?
this goes to what [member=3]Chris[/member] was saying, a long & slow rain that can soak in

how are the actual reservoirs doing in terms of full-ness?

Reservoirs are mixed, but improving. This has some numbers and you can click on individual reservoirs

this gives a graph for a few reservoirs but you can change the date. If you compare now to 2 months ago for example you'll see a big change for most, but there are a few that are still pretty far behind.

Not certain how many people and what percent of agriculture depends on wells. Also curious in what the thinking is for desired reservoir levels since climate change leads to more extremes, lots of things are reported in relation to averages which might be misleading.

What I've heard is that the one day downpours help, but a lot it runs off into the ocean.  I believe that all/most drains in SD lead quickly to the ocean.  Surfers get illnesses from the ocean after the rain.

When I first moved here, it rained a lot more days in the winter.  Right now, we get getting a couple of downpour days a year.

Our collective dream of fried chicken and waffles has been temporarily shattered as we have received breaking news that Roscoe’s House of Chicken & Waffles is not moving forward with its San Diego expansion at this time. Last summer, Eater shared word that Roscoe’s had purchased a location in Barrio Logan at 1678 National Avenue. The unique site, at the corner of National and Sigsbee, spans a 17,489-square-foot lot that had plenty of room for the soul food brand’s needs, which included ample parking and a 4,000-square-foot restaurant space.

Though Roscoe’s House of Chicken & Waffles had already begun construction in Barrio Logan, a source says the company recently came to the decision to put the property back on the market in order to focus on its activities in Los Angeles, which include moving their Mid-City outpost to a brand new building which is scheduled to launch later this year. Our source assures us that Roscoe’s ownership is still committed to opening a restaurant in San Diego and will likely restart their location search in the next six months.

Also, nice upgrade to the front page graphics -- separate social media layouts:

Stan Lee has dropped out of this weekend's Big Apple Comic Con citing "health issues," according to the New York City convention.

"Stan keeps to an amazing schedule and it seems to have taken its toll. We are terribly sorry for any inconvenience but the show must go on."

Autographed memorabilia relating to Lee will still be sold at a Stan Lee Collectibles booth during the convention. The is convention is not offering refunds on admission tickets, but will offer refunds/exchanges for any advance Stan Lee autographs, photo ops, or swag bag pre-orders made.

In 2016, similiar health issues led Lee to cancel what was billed as his "final" apparance at Comic-Con International: San Diego. He had since resumed appearances, billing some of them as his "final" time at those conventions, including 2016's New York Comic Con.

This is supposed to be his last year. He appeared at ECCC last Saturday and looked very healthy! I was sad to hear that things went badly afterward, resulting in this week's cancelation.

Hoping that means we'll get one last chance at SDCC to see him.

When Kass was a wee one roaming SDCC, he ran into Stan Lee, walked up to him, stuck out his hand and said "Hello Mr. Lee" and had a "moment". This was back when it was easier to walk up to Stan the Man.

LOL!  If you've seen the clip where the BBC interview is interrupted by the interviwewees children and wife coming into the room, then you'll appreciate this....
