Here is a tip that I luckily remembered when we went to ship at Fedex at the convention center.
If you pack up your items ahead of time (in other words-you are not using their pack & ship service), then you don't have to wait in the line that forms against the wall-that is the pack and ship line. We waited in it one year (luckily, it wasn't long) only to find out we didn't need to. Just go up to the registers and work your way in when you can-they will take care of you. We helped someone else out in line that had their item already packed up. She was very grateful!

Here's my tip pick up the empty boxes at Hasbro to ship your toys home. I grabbed six empty boxes, filled 3 boxes full of stuff and shipped it. Saved us the cost of buying boxes from the postal annex and we packed the boxes in our room not in store.

4 months to Preview Night!

This is a tip that 2016-me thoughtfully put on the calendar for 2017-me for today, namely to take whatever tools you use to organize, be they spreadsheets, calendar apps, notebooks, or quipu and get them ready and primed. Things are already starting to trickle in and it won't be long until the nice slow drip, drip drip of announcements becomes a make-it-stop-omg-please! flood of information.

Good tip.  I use paper--everyone laughs at me.  :)

As a first timer, what is the best way to find out where and when off-site events will be happening? Are they mostly walk-in events or do you have to register/buy tickets?

Watch this area of the forum, info will be posted as we find it. You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

Whether or not you need tickets depends on the event, but there are a lot of off sites that don't require a ticket.

A friend ordered something on Amazon and had it shipped to an amazon locker in walking distance to convention center. So if you find yourself downtown with no means of transportation and need to buy something that can not be found near by you have that as an option.

Zappos - best online shoe store
« Reply #535 on: April 13, 2017, 12:00:36 PM »
If you are not already aware of this fantastic online shoe store, keep reading

I've been using them for years. They have free return shipping (and maybe free shipping now, I have VIP and is a perk)

They have a huge selection with many wide selections. I usually have a hard finding ones that fit well, but  just picked these up and the intial test run is promising, very cushy with high arch and wide up top.  Best of all they won't clash too much with my "outfit", these seem more navy than grey to me.

Another tip for those that don't want to spend too much on collectibles. I tend to bring a few collectibles (games, comics, toys, etc.) as a handful of vendors there accept trades or willing to buy on the spot. I was fortunate enough to score a sideshow collectibles Hulk last year for trade with a hasbro exclusive I picked up in 2014.

That's a great idea, I've never thought about bringing things to trade.
