I'm hoping NYCC will add the ability for Pros to also bring a guest, just like SDCC.

press passes were up before ticket sales in june. i remember because i was approved for press like the day of or the day before ticket sales.

I have a feeling given pro closes end of april press will open up either in a week or two (mid april) or right after pro closes (may) and close end of may with ticket sales in June

but that is a guess

Sounds right. Last year my editor was the one applying since three of us were hoping to go, and she was a bit delayed. So we didn't hear back about it until afterward (wherein the year before it was just me, and I knocked it out of the park the moment they opened and got approval pretty quickly). Hoping for quicker work this year, so I know before ticket sales. Otherwise, I'm sure I'll find someone who could use a four day pass (granted I'm able to snag one).

So after looking at the application again it looks like they are only giving 2 passes per institution or company. I'm hoping I can still get it as a few teachers from my school applied. It seems strange that they would only give 2 passes for an entire school system.

interesting but I am sure they need to limit how many they give out. I am sure press will have similar limitations then too.

I'm sure that's why they are doing it but at some point it doesn't make sense. The NY DOE is one institution with thousands of teachers in hundreds of school. How are they going to pick only 2 to attend?

I'm sure they won't look at it like DOE but maybe specific school

2 passes per company? Well I hope none of the other guys I work for apply (even though the company is small, like 5-7 people).

Application seems a bit simpler, I guess as an artist it depends how good your website and linkedin look

i think in 2014 nycc let in all these utube people. 11:30 am-3:30 pm the vip area and it's surroundings were fully occupied. a sea of people. last year it seems the utubers were dropped, and the place had lots of room. vast amounts. but hey, when i look up some of those people and their videos have only 3-400 views apiece, i can understand.

so leave your utube video/channel off. if possible. unless you have megaviews. remember i am only guessing with as much knowledge as being nosy, and keeping my eyes open, can come up with.

I think its a combination of many factors that contribute to whether you are approved or not and its unfair to say youtube content is not a positive impact on the decision process.

Just in case, some didn't take full notice pro applications are open until April 29, 2016 at 11:59AM EDT. They are going close after that. Far earlier in than past years.

Press registration hasn't opened yet.

Has anyone gotten a reply of their status for a pro badge yet?  I'm wondering if they are waiting until after the 29th to see how many people apply.  I guess I'm just impatient since last year we heard back in 2 days.

I just hope press reg is before badge sales, so I know whether or not I need to try to buy a badge.

We've never been to NYCC, as it's a bit of a trip for us, but I think what we're going to do this year is apply for Press, and if we get it, then we'll be obligated to go! No excuses!  :D
