The FoCC Preview Night Breakfast Meetup will take place once again.
Location will be the Broken Yolk Loft (Gaslamp).
Time will be from 7am to 10:30am.
Setup: Individual checks
Update 6/29: Due to the strong response to this event RSVPs are now closed as we have reached a capacity threshold. Also now that Conan ticketing logistics are firmed up I will start to review the waitlist to see where I can accommodate where I can.
Current list of RSVPs - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1U7hhRyR8TMVuLqH7J4uWfobktt40hL4GhT8_7YN1Cls
**Conan ticketing plays a factor in arrival times and attendance and I kindly ask attendees and those on the waitlist to contact me ASAP via PM if you feel your times or attendance is going to change. This will help me get as many participants in to the event. **
Thank you all for making this event a great experience. I am looking forward to see you all in a few weeks.

I will plan to release it soon after.
-
There's a slight possibility I can make it ,as finances have made a bit of a change....
-
RSVP link is live! Please see the first pst in this thread.
-
I got Thursday and Sunday. I'll come. Buying a car can wait.
Bringing Timtams!
-
Based on the RSVPs so far this event look like we have a solid turnout.
Note to anyone planned on trying for Conan that have not mentioned it in the commentary - please update your line to indicate whether you are planning for Conan so a can plan for space accordingly.
We do have a capacity limit and the 8am hour is looking like a peak time.
I may close RSVPs temporarily within the next day to figure out capacity and determine if I need to activate a waitlist.
If you have not RSVP'd yet I encourage you to act quickly by 4/10.
Thanks all!!
-
Yay! I tasted Timtams for the first time 2yrs ago at the breakfast
-
Thanks for the responses and RSVPs. We have reached a capacity mark. I will close the form to new RSVPs for the time being and will start an offline waitlist. Please send me a PM if you are interested in being placed on the wait list.

I'm scared to google timtams as I'm in work and it sounds like it could potentially bring back dodgy results :D

Haha! I didn't quote who I was replying to. It's food. Australian cookie, full of deliciousness.

Please add me to the waitlist. :)
I'll more than likely be trying for Conan tickets, so would be arriving later for the breakfast, if that makes any difference.

Hi all - I know Conan planning may factor into the RSVPs and arrival times for attendees.
Special note to attendees who RSVP'd: Please let me know directly via PM if are planning for Conan tix that morning or if you have a change in arrival time. I would like to factor this into planning so I can accommodate as many forum members who are on the waitlist as possible. Thank you in advance.

Last year I didn't get the sausages. I got the eggs benny with Canadian bacon. So this year I think I am going to try to satisfy the sweet tooth :)
-
I'm just going to get what I always get: bacon, eggs, and SOURDOUGH BREAD because Hawai'i does not have good sourdough oh god i miss good sourdough brb gonna cry

The food there isn't very good so I am not even thinking about what I will eat. I'm just thinking about seeing all your faces!

I don't think it is that bad. A fried egg is a fried egg no matter where you get it lol.

Not true! What about when they are overcooked and plastic? I guess I was just disappointed last year, they took my favorite item off the menu and what I had in place of it was not good, I left half of it on the plate and I NEVER do that.
-
I like the food there. My husband and I go every year, even though we're never in town in time for this meetup.
-
I like breakfast food so any chance to have it seems like a yummy meal to me! (I mainly eat protein bars at home)

I thought you had to order food to go to the meetup, so I've never bothered because I really don't like the food there either. The pancakes are rubbery and the biscuits were more like bread than light and fluffy. Very dry. You know what's really good? Seeing everyone!! So make sure to come out to the Tuesday meetup too! :)

Sorry to hear you are not a fan of the food. I actually find their food good and it is as close to a diner breakfast I can get in SD (being from NY diners are my favorite place for a good breakfast).
We are able to secure the loft space because we have had great attendance for the past few years and the management secures the space for us when I reach out to them (I reach out to them early and they are very accommodating). Yes it is encouraged that attendees purchase something but it can be something as simple as coffee or enjoy a meal.
We are getting the space because they do expect 'business' but I also have to give them credit for great service as well. The loft space was reserved by other companies for smaller affairs in the past and we can now top that because we have a great crowd coming.
I encourage everyone to attend all the meetups since they are great places to hang out (schedule permitting of course). Personally I will be at three this year.

I'm not a breakfast eater (although the dishes at Broken Yolk do look good) so when I have been to the PN Breakfast, I have just ordered a beverage. Once it was hot tea, and the next time (it was super warm and humid that year) it was a Diet Coke. I actually didn't sit much, just walked around the room chatting with people. The year I had the soda, the waiter would follow me around and give me refills. He was excellent and I gave him more than 100% tip. ;)
It is polite to order *something* at these meetups, because the restaurants (both for the PN Breakfast and the Sunday night dinner) are giving us the space for free. Trust me, that is incredibly valuable! People have been asking me to expand the Sunday dinner, but whenever I inquire at various places about space, they all want to charge me a flat fee and/or set up a prix fixe menu. We have a sweet deal at Broken Yolk (and Harbor House) and it is in our interests to give them what business we can. You don't have to order a meal, but order *something*. And try not to take up table space if you're not ordering a proper meal. Getting up and releasing your 'seat' allows others to come in and order, and that's good both for the restaurant and for socialization. ;)

Love both locations! They're perfect. It's about the people not the food, and I don't remember the food as being bad at all at either place.

I used to not be a breakfast eater but now I need protein to start my day or I'm dead on my feet after about two hours. ???
I think they like us because we are good tippers. I always leave 20% at MINIMUM and usually a lot more. Same at Harbor House for Sunday. These restaurants are so kind to reserve space for us and I want the wait staff to remember us positively. FoCC are great tipping folk lol
-
I never ate breakfast. I'd have a coffee. And when I was smoking I would have a coffee and cigarette. Every now and then I would have eggs (over easy or cheese omelette) and hash browns. (When I was younger we would have amazing breakfasts on the weekend with indian style scrambled eggs, kabobs/mince meat, potatoes, parata/puri and halva.) But now I have steel cut oatmeal with honey, diced apples, and walnuts and a coffee and then a kale-avocado-pear-berries smoothie. (It seems like a lot but I do an intense 45-min workout with no breaks every morning.)
-
Yes, Broken Yolk service for us is always top notch. They assign us our own private staff in the loft and it's exceptionally quick, pleasant and attentive!
-
I'm hoping to get into the meetup a little later if room allows for my girls and I.
If you're looking for a better breakfast than Broken Yolk, check out "Brian's 24" on 6th ave. Open 24hrs!!
They are awesome, they have a money back guarantee that their pancakes are the best you've ever had! They also have some ridiculously large eating challenge if you're into that lol.

Okay - you had me at pancakes.
If this is not on the recommended eats thread please state your recommendation there @RobT2K.

Update from the organizer: I am waiting until the Conan ticket distribution logistics are confirmed and will begin to look through the waitlist.
For those on the RSVP please let me know if you have any changes to your plans or arrival times via PM. I will look at working through the waitlist the week of July 10th and will contact anyone on the waitlist via PM.
Thank you all in advance for making this meetup a part of your SDCC plans and I look forward to seeing everyone in a few weeks.

If I'm hungry and not unconscious from my red-eye?

Hey All!!! Wanted to wish everyone a safe trip to San Diego (or commute if you are local).
I am looking forward to this event and seeing everyone - as I hope many feel the same. The positive response has helped make this a capacity event and helps us secure the Loft. I thank you all for making this a great event and look forward to seeing you all in a few days and enjoying a fantastic breakfast!
Please remember to take care of the wait staff - they are rockstars.
