idwpublishing #Repost from the talented @andy_suriano, co-creator of Cosmic Scoundrels! Always an awesome experience to be able to peek behind the scenes of what it takes to create a comic.

Thanks to everyone that helped us make, picked up, ordered and/or talked about #CosmicScoundrels from @idwpublishing here’s my #process of creating art for a single page...

IDW Publishing has temporarily closed its San Diego Comic Art Gallery as part of broad changes to the two-year-old gallery. Founding gallery manager TJ Shevlin exited the company earlier this month, and IDW removed the retail storefront component of the gallery.  A source familiar with the situation calls it a "transitional period" for the gallery.

IDW's San Diego Comic Art Gallery first opened in June 2015, coinciding with the company's move to its new headwarters at Liberty Station's former Navy Barracks. In its two years, it hosted numerous exhibits with the work of Kevin Eastman, Howard Chaykin, and Ben Templesmith, and fostered local community events as well as tie-in events concurrent with Comic-Con International: San Diego.

IDW anticipates re-opening the gallery sometime in February 2018.

San Diego Comic Fest would like to congratulate our good friend TJ Shevlin for concluding his amazing 3-year run as Manager of the San Diego Comic Art Gallery. He brought every bit of his passion for comics to this role, forging a great community for fans, wonderful events with schools and local scientific institutions.

For anyone lucky enough to swing inside the gallery they would always get an enthusiastic and informative talk from this guru of comics. He has been a great friend to San Diego Comic Fest speaking on lectures for several years and more importantly a part of our community.

Thank you so much, TJ. We wish you the best in the future.

Awwww, TJ is AWESOME!!  I was just in there a few weekends ago (sometime after Christmas) and my son and I (mostly my son) had a loooooooong talk about Transformers.  He's always been incredibly knowledgeable and super nice and helpful.  He mentioned that he was moving some of his personal stuff out in the near future (the Transformers toy display case was all his personal collection, for example) but he didn't mention he was leaving.

The closure/revamp explains why it was 'unexpectedly' closed last Saturday afternoon.  My son had turned 16 that day and was hyped to go down there, only to be bummed that it closed.  I hope when it reopens it continues its great exhibits

TWO big announcements ahoy! Little Fish is adding, for the first time, a writing class! Students and parents have been asking, and we have heard the call!

Secondly, we can think of no one better equipped to teach this class than TJ Shevlin, who we are proud to announce as our newest instructor!

TJ comes to us from a long history in Comic retail and as the Gallery Manager at the San Diego Comic Art Gallery.

We're kicking things off with a half month lesson. This class is just 75.00, for January 19th and 26th! Email us at [email protected] and we'll hold you a spot in this new, exciting class!!

Not sure if this is the best place to post this but Titan has a pretty cool book coming out this summer. Previously unreleased art by Kirby and Gil Kane based on The Prisoner tv series which is having its 50th anniversary.

Up on amazon and B&N for preorder, $80 is steep for only 64 pages but new Kane and new Kirby ...

I've donated quite a bit lately and the 90's crap took an equal hit.   :)
