Do you believe in UFO’s, astral projections, mental telepathy, ESP, clairvoyance, spirit photography, telekinetic movement, full trance mediums, the Loch Ness monster, and the theory of Atlantis? Yes? No? Well, believe this: Your WonderCon Anaheim badge will be shipped in advance if you purchase it by February 20, 2018! That means no line to pick up your badge! You won’t find Dana in line … but Zuul will be.

Thankfully, there isn’t a Gatekeeper or Keymaster standing in your way so purchasing a badge is easy. Simply log in to your Comic-Con Member ID account, select the “Registration Info” tab, and choose the “Purchase Badges” option in the WonderCon Anaheim section. Badges will not be sold onsite at the Anaheim Convention Center. If you don’t have a Comic-Con Member ID, click here to sign up today!

So, strap on your unlicensed nuclear accelerator and take advantage of advance shipping by purchasing your badge by February 20, 2018. Your badge will be mailed to the shipping address on file in your Comic-Con Member ID account as of this date.

Badges will begin shipping at least 3 — 4 weeks prior to March 22, 2018. We send them in batches, so please do not be alarmed if Ray, Egon, or Winston receives their badge before or after you. Badges not delivered for any reason (lost/stolen by the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man/returned to sender) must be picked up onsite.

There’s a big Twinkie in the room, and we’re here to acknowledge it. We are unable to ship to an international address. International attendees will be able to pick up their badge when they arrive onsite at the Registration Area.

Remember, if you purchase your badge by February 20, 2018 it will be shipped to you in advance! When it arrives, pop open an Ecto Cooler and celebrate!

Thank you. Hope we can help you again. One Class 5 full-roaming vapor. Move ‘em out!

This year’s WonderCon Anaheim Program Book cover celebrates an amazing comics milestone: the 1000th issue of Action Comics, featuring Superman!

Eighty years ago, two young men from Cleveland, Ohio-Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster-saw their dreams come true when their creation, Superman, was picked to be the cover feature on a new comic from National Allied Publications, known today as DC Comics. Action Comics #1 debuted in June of 1938 with a cover featuring a costumed man lifting a car and smashing it with his bare hands. The book was a massive hit and 999 issues later, Superman is one of the most recognizable fictional characters in the world, the star of comics, movies, television, animated films, and much more.

Our cover is illustrated by WonderCon Anaheim 2018 special guest Dan Jurgens, who has a long history with Superman. Jurgens was one of the creators behind the “Death of Superman” storyline in the 1990s and has helped to redefine the character in the Rebirth era. Joining Dan are his long-time inker Norm Rapmund, plus color artist Alex Sinclair, and letterer Todd Klein, celebrating the Man of Steel on his groundbreaking anniversary, and the character’s continued quest for truth, justice, and the American way!

The WonderCon Anaheim Program Book is given free to all attendees at the event. It’s the official guide to all things WonderCon, including the complete schedules for programs, anime, and games, bios and photos of our special guests, maps of the Anaheim Convention Center and the area around it, and much more. Make sure to pick up your copy when you arrive at WonderCon. Dan, Norm, and Alex will all be in Artists’ Alley, so get that cover signed by the artists!

Happy 80th birthday, Superman, and happy 1000th issue of Action Comics!

People of WonderConopolis, this is your mayor. Follow me: We will avoid lines in the badge pick-up area by buying our badges before the shipping deadline!

I have isolated the algorithm for buying badges! If you purchase a WonderCon Anaheim 2018 attendee badge prior to February 20, 2018, your badge will be mailed to you in advance. Your badge will be shipped to the address on file in your Comic-Con Member ID account as of February 20, 2018. Upon further evaluation, I have discovered that Comic-Con is unable to accept address changes after this date. They encourage you to purchase your badge early to take advantage of advance shipping, and I agree. Don't you think if I were wrong, I'd know it?

Badges for those who purchased in advance will begin shipping 3 - 4 weeks prior to March 22, 2018. Badges will be shipped in batches, so a friend or family member may receive their badge before/after you! Badges not delivered for any reason (lost in dark matter/stolen/destroyed) must be picked up onsite at the Registration Area in Hall D.

If you choose to purchase your badge after February 20, 2018, you must pick up your badge onsite at the Registration Area in Hall D, and I won't say anything. I'll merely offer you a facial expression that suggests you've gone insane. Please click here for more information about badge pick-up.

If you need help deciding when to purchase your badge, remember this: Scissors cut paper, paper covers rock, rock crushes lizard, lizard poisons Spock, Spock smashes scissors, scissors decapitate lizard, lizard eats paper, paper disproves Spock, Spock vaporizes rock, and as it always has, advance shipping beats onsite pick-up. It's simple.

Bazinga!

May the epic countdown begin! We’re a mere 30 days away from WonderCon Anaheim 2018!

Let’s start with a short history lesson, shall we? Once upon a time, there was a comic retailer named John Barrett who wanted to organize an event encompassing all the makings of a classic comic convention. He envisioned an Exhibit Hall with dealers selling old and new comics (among other items), creative programming, anime screenings, and games. He gathered his friends (Bob Borden, Bryan Uhlenbrock, Rory Root, Joe Field, and Mike Friedrich) to help bring his vision to life. In 1987, this event was established as “The Wonderful World of Comics Convention” in Oakland, CA. Then, in 2001, the remaining partners reached out to Comic-Con in hopes that we could incorporate WonderCon into our family of conventions.

We adopted the Oakland-based event in 2002 and relocated it to San Francisco in 2003. After 10 years as a Bay Area event, WonderCon moved to Anaheim in 2012 (due to construction at Moscone Center) and has been there ever since (with a one-year trip to Los Angeles in 2016, due to-you guessed it-construction at the Anaheim Convention Center). Now officially called “Comic-Con International Presents WonderCon Anaheim,” 2018 marks our 17th year with the event, and the 32nd continuous year for WonderCon!

Did you know that WonderCon Anaheim is Comic-Con’s sister convention? It has embraced all the main aspects of Comic-Con, including comics, movies, TV, animation, and the Masquerade, just to name a few. We truly hope you’ll join us this year as WonderCon Anaheim continues to grow (including an Anaheim Convention Center expansion!).

Today marks the first of 30 consecutive days of Toucan Tips. Bookmark us and check back every day for tips and tricks that will help you plan your visit to Anaheim.

Welcome to this year’s edition of “Exhibit Hall Do’s and Don’ts!” We’re back with another helpful list of tips and tricks to help you navigate our expansive Exhibit Hall and enjoy a safe WonderCon Anaheim 2018.

DO! Know what a Floor Manager is, and how to spot them
WonderCon Anaheim’s Exhibit Hall is a vibrant and exciting place. However, keeping it safe and organized requires a dedicated crew of people. WonderCon Anaheim Floor Managers are those people! Look for tan polos or white button-down shirts, with the Comic-Con logo. Floor Managers are there so we can all safely enjoy WonderCon Anaheim. Please don’t hesitate to ask them questions, but also remember to comply with their instructions!

DO! Take advantage of the lobby to get places faster
Want to get to the other side of the Exhibit Hall, and get there fast? Use the lobby! It’s less crowded than the Exhibit Hall and is a tried-and-true method to find your bearings if you’re lost.

DO! Look around when getting in line for a purchase, autograph, etc.
Does that line look too short to be true? Look around for clues! Chances are, the line has been “broken” and continues across the aisle for safety purposes. Floor Managers will be nearby directing convention-goers around the break toward the end of the actual line.

DO! Ask permission before taking someone’s picture
WonderCon Anaheim is a great place to enjoy the detailed cosplay our attendees work so hard on. However, it’s a good idea to take a few seconds and double-check it’s ok to take someone’s picture. Keep it courteous! Once you’ve asked permission and have snapped the perfect photo, please be sure to clear the aisle quickly to allow your fellow attendees a chance to create their own perfect Kodak moment.

DO! Be aware of your backpacks and poster tubes
Sometimes backpacks can be filled to the brim with an excellent haul, and we can all appreciate a well-packaged poster. Make sure your backpacks and poster tubes aren’t negatively impacting the experience of other attendees. Keep an eye on your personal items to avoid knocking over displays or hurting someone (especially the wee kiddos who might be eye-level with the bottoms of bags).

DO! Check out the aisle sign markers hanging from the rafters
Aisle signs markers are great tools to help you figure out where you are in the Exhibit Hall, especially if you use the Exhibit Hall map found in your Program Book. They are also useful for remembering where certain booths are that you’d like to revisit later. Make sure to note whether the booth is toward the front, middle, or back of the Exhibit Hall when jotting down aisle sign markers!

DO! Keep to your right
We all know the Exhibit Hall can get crowded. To help alleviate aisle congestion, keep to your right to help traffic flow and prevent bottlenecks and potential safety hazards. You might even hear a Floor Manager reminding attendees of this “Exhibit Hall Do” to make sure everyone’s experience is enjoyable.

DON’T! Attempt retail sales unless you have exhibit space
Retail sales are prohibited unless you have been allocated, or purchased, WonderCon Anaheim exhibit space. Such sales may not be facilitated in any WonderCon Anaheim convention site, including but not limited to: programming rooms, Exhibit Hall aisles and lounges, lobbies, outdoor Anaheim Convention Center grounds, and the Hilton Anaheim (our headquarters hotel).

DON’T! Use hover boards, rolling carts, or double-wide strollers
We know, we know! Hover boards are awesome, and rolling carts are useful. But we want to keep the Exhibit Hall safe for everyone, so please leave those doodads at home. Only WonderCon Anaheim exhibitors are permitted to use rolling carts during specified hours.

Double-wide strollers are also awesome and useful. However, for safety purposes, we ask you don’t bring them as they are not permitted in the Exhibit Hall. For your convenience, there is stroller parking at the Anaheim Convention Center.

DON’T! Run in the programming rooms, lobby, Exhibit Hall, or outside the Anaheim Convention Center
Even if you’re just trying to get to your favorite panel or exhibitor, running risks your safety, the safety of others, and having your badge taken away (AKA being removed from the event). Just don’t do it!

DON’T! Cluster in the aisles and common areas
WonderCon Anaheim has a lot of great merchandise and amazing talent in attendance. Many of our attendees wish to purchase that “must have” item or get that famous signature. Because of this, we must make sure lines for such things are organized in the safest way possible. Clustering in the aisles and common areas creates safety hazards and traffic jams. Floor Managers will set and manage lines throughout the Exhibit Hall to prevent such congestion. Please follow their directions at all times!

Your badge has arrived, you’ve mapped out your weekend, and now you need to get to the Anaheim Convention Center! There are plenty of transportation options available, and we’ve put all them all in one place.

Planes …
If you’re flying to Anaheim, then landing at the John Wayne Airport (SNA) in Orange County is the best option because it is approximately 14 miles away from the Anaheim Convention Center. The next best choice would be the Long Beach Airport (LGB) which comes in at 20 miles away. The Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is a whopping 35 miles away! If you must fly into LAX, we highly suggest keeping an eye on traffic as driving to the convention center alone will take close to an hour. No one wants to spend their time on a freeway when they could be in the Exhibit Hall!

Trains …
Taking the Pacific Surfliner is a great option! The Amtrak Anaheim Station is only 3 miles away from the Convention Center. This is a personal favorite of ours-the ride is smooth, and the views are amazing! We love using the time on the train to get lost in a graphic novel.

And Automobiles …
Probably the most popular form of transportation! Please be aware that the Anaheim Convention Center has been newly remodeled, so it’ll likely be a little different from last year. There is a set of directions below for your convenience. However, we highly suggest you take advantage of your GPS. In most instances, it will direct you to the best route based on traffic and driving conditions. For your GPS or map app, use 800 West Katella Avenue, Anaheim, CA 92802 as the address.

If you’re driving from the North:
Take the I-5 South, exit Harbor Blvd., turn right onto S Harbor, and then turn right onto W Convention Way.

If you’re driving from the South:
Take the I-5 North, exit Katella/Disney Way, turn left onto E Katella, drive about a mile to S Harbor, turn left onto S Harbor, then turn right onto W Convention Way.

And Parking …
Parking is available in all lots at the Anaheim Convention Center on a first-come, first-served basis. There are no reserved parking spots or valet options available. The Convention Center has several parking lots, but they fill up very quickly.

We want to give you the most current parking information possible, so please check our Parking page for updated info as we get closer to the event!

WonderCon Anaheim 2018 is returning to the Anaheim Convention Center for another exciting year! Come join us to check out the new Anaheim Convention Center (ACC) North 200,000 square-foot expansion, making it the largest convention center on the West Coast, and one of the largest in the United States.

As a WonderCon Anaheim 2018 attendee, you’re definitely going to want to visit the ACC North expansion. It’s the hub for those interested in animation, television, and film-especially since this is where two of our largest programming rooms are relocating! You’re also going to want to visit the Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) lounge. That’s right, we said VR and AR Lounge. Curious about how to get there from the original Convention Center? No biggie, just take the brand-new pedestrian bridge. Whaaaaaat!
