I guess I am the opposite of a goodie at comic con.  I grab the nearest edible thing that is high carb to fuel up for the day and move on.  :)

Same. I only spent $3 on food during all of comic-con. I brought a water bottle with me that I would fill at the drinking fountains and one midday snack. I ate breakfast at home before heading out and I grabbed dinner courtesy of Mr. Robot.

My group mostly grabbed what was near, but the special Foodie places we did hit were:

Lion Fish - delicious seafood, all fresh catches and some fancy cocktails. Good, but VERY long wait.

and

The Whiskey House - TONS of whiskey options and tasting menus, and then I had a delicious lamb burger. It was amazing. I'll go back there!

No worries! I was definitely doing the same thing when I was waiting in line for Hall H and exploring the convention and different panels. I grabbed an awful lot of "convention" food like from Cafe Express (the many lined stalls at the back of the Exhibit Hall). French fries were decent, but chicken fingers not. Onion rings were greasy, but crunchy, and yet there were real onions underneath all that fried batter. I also grabbed a morning chorizo burrito in the morning by the Hilton pop-up. I stayed away from the cookies -- sadly I lost my obsession with sugar last year.

During the day, we are the same. Many DIY peanut butter and jelly sandwiches courtesy of CVS were consumed!

I also forgot to mention Cafe 222. We eat there at least once every year (DH ate their twice this year and texted me a picture of his breakfast while I was trying for Funko on Thursday):
We usually get the The Two plus Two + 2 (Two buttermilk Cakes + 2 eggs + 2 links, patties or slices of turkey bacon). I sub the pancakes for a waffle. Heaven! DH likes the pancakes.

I did splurge even more once, and got the Peanut Butter & Banana Stuffed French Toast. So good! Per the menu:
Quote
We did this on the Food Network for Bobby Flay. It was recently Featured on a Food Net Show “The Best Thing I Ever Ate.”
(which is why I tried it)

The beauty this year was that it was free due to e-coin. They did stop accepting e-coin early though.

This was one of our list to visit this time, but unfortunately, we didn't make it. We love a great burger! Next time for sure.

If there is a Padres game they open the location near the stadium.

As a fellow foodie, I wish I had more to share about great places and restaurants. We arrived early in San Diego and while we hit a few good places, a lot of the places we visited were chains and/or nothing spectacular because we super exhausted and just wanted to eat. BUT, I can say that the best thing I ate while I was in San Diego this year was for brunch at Cafe 21: Bread Pudding Benedict with Turkey, Avocado, and Cranberry. SOO GOOD.

Someone else in our group ordered the Short Rib Cast Iron Omelet and she really enjoyed it. She said the omelet part was just your basic egg omelet, but that the short ribs were amazing and so good with the blue cheese. Another person in our group got the Apple Swiss sandwich which also got high reviews.

Ah! We were wondering about that -- my husband said he thought there was one near the stadium, but couldn't figure out if it was available all the time or not. Good to know.

The one near the stadium, is actually IN the stadium. Only open during ballgames.
