Even at SDCC I've ran into people who just stop on the floor. I think that's a person problem and not a one type of Con problem. LOL

My pet peeve for cons is Mr. I have 4 long boxes on a hand cart and Mr. Ive got 100 single issue for somebody to sign. Ive always felt that if you have X number of issues to sign then you get the rubber stamp autograph!

Zammap here. Been going to NYCC since 07. Didn't go to the first one because 16 year old me hadn't peeked in my geekdom yet. As a NY native with no car I'm limited to the small cons in the area. Happy that I have NYCC.  I'm a cosplayer and freelance illustrator. One day I will have to give up the cosplay life and be a full time artist, stuck behind a booth the whole weekend lol. Comic con is my life!
welcome, zammap-  i gotta say, i don't know how people do it.  hanging at only one booth & not really seeing the rest of the con.  Enjoy your freedom while you can!

Preview nite at nycc was super nice, low crowds, a person could actually move on the floor-  If i was closer I'd most likely go just for that<grin>

Preview night is from 3pm-9pm Thursday. It's for people who purchase a Thursday, 4-day, or VIP pass. You get to be show floor and artist alley first. There also some guests, panels and kick off concert in the IGN Theater.

OK cool. I picked up a Thursday solo ticket after I got my 3 day ticket. Sounds like I'm covered then.

I think the big crowds are part of the fun tho. It adds to the atmosphere :)

I was inside early last year for the Retailers breakfast and I have to say it is a little creepy to see NYCC all set up, but only a few people actually in the lobby.  Of course it looks like a zombie movie the moment you look at the doors and see a sea of people waiting for the show to start.

Hey everyone, I'm Diego and have been going off and on to NYCC since the very first one (which was a bit of a mess!!).  Last year I really got back into it and really enjoyed artist's alley, where I got folks like Amanda Conner to sign my stuff.  That said, since I was traveling everyday by bus back and forth from Philly, I'm just going to do Friday this year.  That bus ride is tiring!

While I'm at it, can I plug some alternative fests while I'm at it. MOCCA Fest is a great exhibition that occurs in New York and features some great independent Comic Art.  This past year it happened in April and is always interesting.  In September the Small Press Expo happens in suburban Washington.  Last year saw the release of Chris Ware's Building Stories which in an amazing achievement in Comics art.  It's coming up again this year on September 14 and 15.

These two cons aren't exactly superhero central, but you'd be surprised at the depth of good reads out there!

Hi, I'm Dee and this will be my first NYCC also. I've been to Cons before (WW Philly and WW NYC earlier this summer, and Dragon*Con a long time ago) but never anything quite like NYCC, I don't think. I'll be going Saturday and Sunday. I'm coming in from PA. Still looking for a place to stay (the rooms, even at Con prices (?) are expensive.  :P I'm seriously thinking of getting a place in one of the NJ hotels and taking the shuttle in.

Hoping they'll add some more cool guests soon.
