While the scientific accuracy depicted in television and film has increasingly come under the microscope in the past decade, science fiction and science-themed productions serve the scientific community in ways other than as entertaining lessons. Many scientists point to series like Star Trek and films like 2001 as their inspiration for choosing their careers. Even the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy is looking to Hollywood to inspire America to go to Mars. George Clayton Johnson Memorial Gathering

Charismatic writer George Clayton Johnson (Ocean's 11, Twilight Zone, Star Trek) was a fixture at Comic-Con in its early decades. He wrote "The Man Trap" (the very first Star Trek episode that aired); wrote such memorable TZ episodes as "A Game of Pool" and "Nothing in the Dark" (with Robert Redford as "Mr. Death"); and co-wrote the cult sf novel Logan's Run with William F. Nolan. GCJ died on Christmas Day 2015 at the age of 86. Friends and fans are invited to share their memories and adventures with George over the past 40 years.

In the future, a lonely farmer takes up working the fields that once belonged to his father. Seeking improvements, he installs huge robotic all-in-one machines that automatically tend the land. Occupied with improving, the farmer overworks the fields. He finds himself in front of a doorway to the past, which makes him realize his errors and reminds him of the old and simpler farming ways of his father.
