Upcoming TVWeekly

The week in TV – 5/29/16

By: Alyssa and DRWHO42

Last week was an exciting week of finales and departures. This week is a little lighter on new shows as the networks transition toward the summer series. The standard fix of GoT should hold (ahem Hold the door…) us over and there is also some time to catch up on our DVR backlog or Netflix. Spotlight shows of this week are Outcast and Cleverman.

DRWHO42’s picks:

GoT, Person of Interest, Outcast, Preacher, and Wayward Pines.

Also catching up on the DVR backlog.

Alyssa’s picks:

New series – Outcast, Talking Preacher, Cleverman.

Ongoing series – GoT, Preacher, Containment, 12 Monkeys, Turn

10:00 pm     Cinemax     Outcast: A Darkness Surrounds Him (#101) [Series Premiere]

The CINEMAX drama series OUTCAST will launch its ten-episode season FRIDAY, JUNE 3 and has been renewed for a second season ahead of the series debut, it was announced today at the 2016 SXSW Festival. The series is created and executive produced by Robert Kirkman (“The Walking Dead”), and executive produced by showrunner Chris Black. “OUTCAST has been a passion project of mine for many years,” said Kirkman. “Seeing it come together has been a huge thrill for me. What we’ve been able to achieve on CINEMAX, with its unprecedented creative freedom, frankly, almost scares ME at times.” “Going into the first season of OUTCAST, we knew that Robert Kirkman had once again created a world that would scare us to our core,” said Kary Antholis, president, CINEMAX Original Programming. “But what he, Chris Black and the rest of their team have delivered has exceeded even those high expectations. We believe our viewers will immediately be sucked into OUTCAST’s intense and creepy landscape, which is why we have chosen to pick up a second season.” Based on the Skybound/Image comic title by creator Robert Kirkman and artist Paul Azaceta, OUTCAST follows Kyle Barnes, a young man who has been plagued by demonic possession all his life. Now, with the help of the Reverend Anderson, a preacher who has personal demons of his own, Kyle embarks on a journey to find answers and regain the normal life he lost. But what Kyle discovers could change his fate – and the fate of the world – forever.Read more: FutonCritic blurb
