DRWHO42’s NYCC Con diary – Friday
By: DRWHO42
Friday is my first day at #NYCC. I will make updates periodically throughout the days.
First priority was securing a spot in line for the BBC America block at The Theater at MSG.
I was able to jaunt quickly the Javits for the Wonder Woman USPS First Day of Issue ceremony. Celebrating such an iconic hero is a great way to start a day.
On my way back I witnessed the masses headed to the con for an exciting and fun filled day.
With my seat secured at MSG the NYCC crew kept the crowd entertained while we waited for the first panel block.
Doctor Who Cosplayers were invited on stage for a photo op.
First panel block included a screening of the Dirk Gently pilot which was enjoyable. I will write more about that in a later article.
After the BBC America Block I ventured back to the convention center for a seat in the Captain’s chair from Star Trek Beyond. As fan of the series and movies this was a special moment for me as I had the opportunity to sit in the same seat that Chris Pine used during Star Trek Beyond. This activation is a tie-in to the release of Star Trek: Beyond, which will be released on Blu-ray and DVDs on November 1st. The both located in the main concourse hall and if you plan to stop by plan accordingly because it is a popular attraction.
Last stop for the day was the autograph hall. Stan Lee was the largest draw and deserved so. My main objectives were Jenna Coleman and Alex Kingston for an item that I wanted signed. Along the way I also grab an autograph from J. August Richards (he was a very nice guy) and I also snagged a picture with him.
