ECCC 2018 is One Hot Ticket
by Transmute Jun
UPDATE As of October 18, Saturday badges have now sold out. Only Thursday, Friday and Sunday badges remain.
On October 11 at noon Pacific time, Emerald City Comic Con (ECCC) badges went on sale. Potential attendees were put into an online queue before getting to the badge-buying screen. By 12:13 pm, 4-day badges were gone (although a few random badges could still be located when carts timed out). This fast sellout is typical of recent years, where ECCC badges have been moving very quickly.
ECCC (to be held March 1-4, 2018) celebrates its 16th year in 2018. While the con has always been a mainstay for comic artists, boasting a large Artists’ Alley, over the years it has also become known for cosplay, gaming, books/writing and entertainment guests. Over the past couple of years, Funko has had a booth on the exhibit floor and offered exclusives, putting this con on the map for collectors. As a result, attendees come from much further away than the Pacific Northwest, and ECCC is becoming a destination con. 2018 also marks the first year that ECCC will fill 4 full days. (For the past two years, Thursday has only been a half day.)
Announced guests for 2018 already include Mark Sheppard (Supernatural, Battlestar Galactica, Firefly), Matthew Lewis (Harry Potter) and Ricky Whittle (American Gods, The 100).
If you want to attend ECCC, tickets for all 4 days are still available as individual day badges. The discounted hotel block has also opened, and you can book your lodging now.
