Hangout 11/19: Celebrating Diversity in Comics & what’s left to do

From an Englishman in San Diego’s site

“…a brave new world.” This on is going to be one of our ‘serious’ episodes as we look into the subject of harassment in the comics industry and how it relates to comic cons – the place where attendees and comics creatives meet in close proximity. Are we are a tipping point where the topic of invasion of personal space and liberty can be spoken out loud in the landscape of comics? Can we see a future where inclusivity is the norm, rather than the exception? Where, as the song goes, do we go from here? Leonard and Alyssa take a look at recent events and try to determine where we stand in the light of day, with a possible new dawn of comic conventions – and behaviour at such – could be over the horizon. As well as all that, we’ll be talking Marvel’s Punisher, DC/WB Justice League and the new series from THE WALKING DEAD’s Robert Kirkman, The Secret History Of Comics. Packed show, as ever.

Alyssa

Alyssa bought her first comic at age 7 and was hooked. She has collected comics most of her life. Recently, she has branched out to comic art and books and the occasional Lego set. She goes to as many cons as she can and enjoys the 'long form' storytelling of the television medium. She is also a foodie and is always up for trying new and different food.
