Next Week in TV 3/11: The Triumphant Return of Timeless & The Introduction of Deception

By: DRWHO42, Alyssa, and Mario Wario

This is a week for sci-fi fans to celebrate with the return of Timeless. The NBC time travel series was resurrected from the ‘land of the cancelled’ in dramatic fashion last spring, and after an ended wait we will now be treated to another season of time traveling adventures. DRWHO42 profiled this series last season (click here) and it was one of the top shows on his list of Fall 2016 TV series. Timeless will be on the top of our list this Sunday night after The Walking Dead. Series creator Eric Kripke has called on all fans of the series, affectionately known as Clock Blockers, to watch the episodes live in an effort to show the NBC brass that they made the right decision to bring the series back, and also to begin to lay the groundwork to campaign for a third season. We encourage everyone to tune in live, DVR it, and engage on every social media platform (@NBCTimeless, #Timeless, #ClockBlockers).

If magic and illusion take your fancy, then ABC’s Deception is right up your alley. The series is about an illusionist who helps the police solve crimes; the show caught our attention when the series was picked up by ABC last spring. There is a bit of the “Castle” feel to it, however, with the magic and illusion aspect added, it will have its own appeal to viewers. Alyssa saw the first episode at NYCC and gives it two thumbs up!

Shondaland is getting bigger with the addition of For the People, premiering on Monday on ABC. The legal drama is about young lawyers and it looks like another winner from mega-producer Shonda Rhimes.

Other highlights this week include the second episode of History Goes Hollywood, which focuses on Apollo 13.

Season finales always tug at the heart, but this week will probably lead to the tissue box with the second season finale of This is Us. Also, on the list of season farewells this week are How to Get Away with Murder and Channel Zero.

The TV conversation never ends, so join the conversation over on the FoCC forum by clicking HERE. Happy viewing!

Editor’s note: Nerd/geek interest are highlighted in Pink.
