Next Week in TV 8/5: Saul Goodman and Team Voltron Return

By DRWHO42, Mario Wario, and Alyssa

The summer TV season this year has provided a nice respite for many of us looking for a mini escape from the workday, or to unwind from a day out while on summer break.

This week will be the week not to miss the return of everyone’s favorite shady lawyer Saul Goodman. Vince Gilligan stated during a press event held in New York City in June that this will be the best season yet. Also returning are Wrecked and Venture Brothers at the beginning of the week, followed by Voltron and Ninjago later in the week.

Disney’s latest incarnation of Freaky Friday, which airs this Friday on the Disney Channel, will be great for the whole family to sit down and watch, since this musical take on the body-swapping classic should provide some instant fun.

We also have a few season finales this week, and the most notables are The 100, Face Off, Deep State, and Reverie.

Yet this past week in TV news was memorable for Timeless and Star Trek fans alike. For instance, Clockblockers rejoiced with the news of NBC giving the greenlight to a two-hour series finale, that will air this holiday season (click here for our article on this announcement). This news comes on the heels of a months long #SaveTimeless social media campaign, which culminated with a banner being flown about San Diego during Comic-Con 2018. The news of the two-hour finale is a win for fans of the series, who have been hoping for some closure on the current storyline, yet the campaign is aiming for a bigger prize: a series pickup by another network/streaming platform. It is still being fought for with Sony Television leading the charge.

The good news did not stop there as another huge announcement dropped on Saturday during Creation’s Star Trek Convention in Las Vegas. Patrick Stewart made a surprised appearance to announce to the fans in attendance that Jean-Luc Picard will be returning to our TV screens, in a brand-new CBS All Access series, which will tell the story of the next chapter of Picard’s life. (At press time, details were not fully available so stay tuned.)

As you can see, there is much to discuss with the latest TV news hitting the internet, as well as this week fast approaching. Thus click here to join the conversation on the FoCC Forum.
