New York Comic Con (NYCC) will be held October 4-7. One of the things that makes NYCC different from other large cons is its use of online lotteries not only for studio autograph sessions and popular exclusives, but also for panels on the main stage of the Javitz Center. ReedPop has just announced that attendee lotteries for this year’s show will open on Thursday, September 13, and will close on Monday, September 24.
Entries in the lottery are limited. Attendees are restricted to entering 5 panel or autograph lotteries (i.e. the total of panel and autograph lotteries entered may be no more than 5) and 2 exhibitor exclusives. Fans who win an autograph or exclusive only win for themselves, but if they win access to the main stage panel, they can take up to 3 guests with them. Winning attendees will be notified by Friday, September 28. Fans who do not win will not be notified.
Attendees who don’t win the lotteries still have a chance for exclusives and panel access. Some exhibitors will have virtual queues for any extra exclusives that may become available, and the main stage panels will only be 50% filled by the lottery, allowing access for other attendees. Unfortunately, access to studio autographs is only through the lottery, so those who do not win will be unable to participate. It should be noted that panels at the Hammerstein Ballroom and Madison Square Gardens will not use lotteries and will be first-come-first-serve.
Attendees must be fan-verified and have activated their badges to participate. Badges can be activated here. Press and Pro attendees cannot enter the exclusives or autograph lotteries, but may enter the panel lotteries. Fans should not rush through their lottery entries, as attendees cannot edit lottery entries once they have been submitted. Fans should make sure that they have entered everything correctly before final submission.
NYCC attendees can find out more about the upcoming lotteries here.
