Next Week in TV 9/9: A Mission to Mars

By DRWHO42, Mario Wario, and Alyssa

September is in full swing which means the return of regular season football. We are extremely excited since many of us will be tuning in today and Monday, to support our favorite teams and our fantasy football players as well. So, good luck to everyone during this first exciting week of action!

As we look ahead to this week in TV, there are a few season premieres to mark on your calendar beginning with the return of FX’s American Horror Story. Each season has always been unique thanks to its bizarre story lines, and from what we have seen in the latest teasers, we can expect another outlandish season. Also on the plate this week, we have the fifth season premiere of The Last Ship on TNT, as well as Showtime’s Shameless which will be celebrating its ninth season tonight. Yet this new season will be bittersweet for the Gallaghers and their fans, thanks to the news of Emmy Rossum’s departure from the series.

This week will also see the television return of a certain comic legend, as well as an interplanetary mission to Mars which should be dandy to watch. The highlight for this week is The First on Hulu, staring Sean Penn and Natascha McElhone. The series focuses on a few astronauts who must endure the long (dangerous) journey to the Red Planet, while their families must cope with the emotional stress of not having their love ones nearby. Another new series to add to your list is Showtime’s Kidding which stars the funnyman himself, Jim Carrey.

We will also say adiós to a few television series this week which includes Power and Castle Rock. Each one is wrapping their first seasons, but have no fear, both shows will be back for a second run. Shooter, meanwhile, wraps up its third season yet this could it for the series due to it being cancelled by USA Network.

And finally in TV news, fans of Designated Survivor were thrilled to hear that their beloved series was saved by Netflix! This company continues to be the ‘Superman’ for many cancelled shows.

So, as we draw a close to this week’s article, we would like to take a moment to reflect on the magic of television. For instance, it can offer a great escape from our daily lives and inspire us to do more by providing a spark. If you wonder how it can, how about reading the latest article done by Mlgagne who details how the series Preacher affected her life. We highly recommend that you do check it out, which you can do so by clicking here. Enjoy reading fantastic work and we will see you all next week!
