Next Week in TV 9/16: The Quest for Emmy Gold

By DRWHO42, Alyssa, and Mario Wario

Awards and celebrities are in on the menu this week as we tune in to find out the best of the best in television at the 70th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. All eyes will be on the red carpet fashions and our curiosity will be satisfied as the names are read from the opened winner envelopes. We are looking for to this year’s hosts Michael Che and Colin Jost as they keep the show moving and delivering laughing along the way.

The Emmy nominations are stacked this year with very deserving nominees especially in the Lead Actress in a Drama Series and Outstanding Drama categories. Elisabeth Moss and everyone nominated for The Handmaid’s Tale are the odds-on favorites but we are hoping for a few surprises for Tatiana Maslany in her swan song nomination for Orphan Black or Sandra Oh for her wonderful performance in Killing Eve. The Outstanding Drama category will be a like cage match with seven heavyweights all looking for the gold. It is too hard to tell whether Game of Thrones will overthrow The Crown, This is Us, or The Handsmaid’s Tale. For the comedy categories, the Saturday Night Live cast may take home a few awards. Good luck to all of the nominees!

As we continue into the week a series to check out will be Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as it takes a bow on Nick.

Elementary wraps its 6th season and we are looking forward to the 7th next year. Also wrapping up their seasons this week are The Sinner, Salvation, Snowfall, and Killjoys.

Of course the conversation does not end here, it continues on the FoCC Forum. Click here to join in on the discussion.

Emet is the perfect mom, boss, wife, friend and daughter. Okay, she’s not perfect. In fact, she’s just figuring it out like the rest of us. Sure, she feels bad when she has a sexy dream about someone other than her husband, or when she pretends not to know her kids when they misbehave in public, or when she uses her staff to help solve personal problems. But that’s okay, right? Nobody can have it all and do it perfectly. From Executive Producer Amy Poehler comes a modern comedy about being perfectly okay with being imperfect.
