Next Week in TV 10/14: The CW’s Supergirl and Charmed Supersizes the Sunday lineup

By DRWHO42, Mario Wario, and Alyssa

The past week in TV has been epic, as well as historic with the debut of Jodie Whittaker as our beloved Timelord. The Fall TV lineup is turning out to be on solid footing with new entries/returning shows. For instance, both Black Lightning and Blindspot made the most out of their premieres to entertain their fans; establish their marks for their new seasons. As such, be sure to check out the article by DRWHO42 on Blindspot (click here) and stay tuned for another article that will be spotlighting season two of Black Lightning.

As for the rest of the lineup, this week can only be described as a game changer thanks to The CW’s expansion to Sundays. Now, our typically relaxed weekends where we generally enjoy football and The Walking Dead are getting a boost with a shot of NOS (nitrous oxide; a term used from The Fast and the Furious franchise). The additions of The CW’s Supergirl, which is returning for its fourth season as well as Charmed to the lineup, with BBC America’s Doctor Who leading the way, today has now become Super Sunday. The fight for live ratings will be a like a cage match, since these series will be squaring off within the same two hour window. We certainly hope the TV executives know that there will be a ratings shift because some of us will have to choose between live watching and the DVR.

Monday evening, meanwhile, will feature the return of Arrow for its seventh (milestone) season with a special airing of the animated Constantine series titled The Legend Continues right after.

Fans of Nathan Fillion will be happy to see his return to television with ABC’s new series titled The Rookie. This new show is about a unassuming man who joins the Los Angeles Police Department while being the ‘oldest’ rookie on the force. As such, he faces an uphill battle for acceptance by his peers and superiors.

Later in the week, the amazing Daredevil returns to protect the citizens of Hell’s Kitchen thanks to the fine folks of Marvel and Netflix. Based on the trailers and information we have seen so far, we recommend not missing this new season. By the way, returning Friday will be Netflix’s Lore for its second season.

Sticking with Netflix, they recently announced that Iron Fist has been cancelled, so no season three incoming. With the news that The Defenders is also not returning for a second go around (at least not yet), we can only hope there will be renewal news soon for Luke Cage.

Manifest continues to intrigue everyone thanks to its fascinating storytelling, yet the next episode will have an important revelation this week, so don’t miss it! The Big Bang Theory continues to bring the laughs as we begin the final season of this hilarious comedy show. Lastly, for those not watching FBI, we recommend giving the Dick Wolf series a trial run. The plots for the episodes we have seen are not dull or predictable.

Of course, the TV conversation does not stop today nor does the TV news. The FoCC team is back from New York Comic Con and we are excited to share more great content we got from our trip there. We had a few articles published already this week by Transmute Jun which includes her thoughts on DC’s Titans (click here) and Future Man (click here). As always, we invite you to join the TV chat over on the FoCC forumHappy viewing, everyone!
