Next Week in TV 12/23: ‘Tis the Season to be a Helsing and More

By Mario Wario, DRWHO42, and Alyssa

Yikes! Christmas is practically here, which means the clock is ticking to get that shopping done, yet hopefully you are not on Santa’s naughty list. Who wants coal this Christmas? Luckily, your television does not care about these things and thankfully this week’s TV schedule has some interesting stuff to check out.

For instance, many can catch the series premiere of Netflix’s Watership Down right now. Based on the novel by Richard Adams, this brand-new animated mini-series is about a few rabbits trying to find a new home while facing multiple threats along the way. The cast list includes James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, Ben Kingsley and John Boyega, so check it out.

On CBS, the 100th episode of Madam Secretary (8:30 p.m. ET) will air tonight. It should be noted that the episode will also be the show’s fall finale.

On Monday, the Oakland Raiders will host the Denver Broncos for some Monday Night Football fun at 8:15 p.m. ET. On Christmas Day, the NBA teams up with ABC for some basketball joy, yet do not forget to check your local listings, because some networks will be airing many Christmas-themed shows/movies. For example, the annual “24 hours of A Christmas Story” marathon will air on TNT/TBS, which begins on Christmas Eve.

Skipping to Friday, the second season finale of NBC’s Midnight, Texas airs at 8 p.m. ET; however, news broke late Friday that NBC has decided not to renew the series, so this will be its series finale. Syfy’s Z Nation (9 p.m. ET) and Van Helsing (10 p.m.) will be having their season finales as well. Sadly, Z Nation was cancelled by Syfy, but the network did renew Van Helsing for another season, so the character Helsing will be having a jolly good Christmas once again.

On Saturday, the College Football Semifinals finally begin which will be live on ESPN.

And of course, do not forget to join the TV conversation on the FoCC forum. Merry Christmas, everyone!
