Next Week in TV 1/6: The Winter Premieres are Coming

By DRWHO42, Mario Wario, and Alyssa

The new year was started off gloriously, thanks to the Doctor Who New Year’s special titled ”Resolution”. The episode had its share of exciting and frightful moments to satisfy all Whovians. The new year also started off on the right foot with the news that The CW placed a pilot order for Batwoman. Of course, we were delighted to hear this news, and look forward to hearing more about the series being picked up down the road.

Sunday night is the official kickoff of awards season with the 76th Annual Golden Globes, hosted by Sandra Oh and Andy Sandberg. The stars will be out in full force and we anticipate some eye-catching fashions will grace the Red Carpet. Black Panther, Crazy Rich Asians, Mary Poppins Returns, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and Killing Eve are all up for awards from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

Monday night will feature the return of the NBC freshman hit, Manifest. Hopefully the return will shed some of the mystery surrounding Flight 828; address some of the unanswered questions about the passengers.

History’s highly anticipated UFO series, based on the unclassified documents from the top-secret investigations conducted by the US Air Force during the 1950s and 1960s on Unidentified Flying Objects., titled Project Blue debuts Tuesday night. The series, which has been on our radar since SDCC 2018, stars Aiden Gillen (Game of Thrones) and Michael Malarkey (The Vampire Dairies).

Also on the schedule this week are Ellen’s Games of Games and Match Game, which will be fun for the whole family. Netflix continues to offer new and engaging content, and the highlight this week will be Sex Education, starring Gillian Anderson and Asa Butterfield.

More hit shows return from hiatus this week: New Amsterdam, FBI, The Rookie, Black-ish, Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, Chicago PD, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Good Place, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Future Man, Blindspot; both NCIS series, and all of the Chicago shows.

And finally, do not forget to look at this week’s complete TV schedule listed below and do join the TV conversation on the FoCC forum. Until next week, happy viewing everyone!
