Regular San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) attendees know the pain of the hotel lottery, commonly known as ‘Hotelpocalypse’. The stress and waiting often result in attendees being allocated a less than desirable hotel. One way to avoid this stress and take your fate into your own hands is to book a room through the Early Bird hotel sale. During the Early Bird sale, fans can select a hotel of their own choice and book in advance, securing their desired lodgings before the official hotel lottery takes place. Of course, there is a catch: there are no downtown hotels available during the Early Bird sale. Additionally, Early Bird rooms are not cancelable, regardless of circumstances. But for attendees who are fine with being out of downtown and are certain that they will be attending SDCC, the Early Bird sale is their ticket out of hotel madness. Also note that all rooms must be fully prepaid in advance, and advance payments are non-refundable.
Although none of the hotels are downtown, they are generally on the shuttle routes. The Town & Country hotel is also on the trolley line, with a station next to the hotel property. Additionally, many of the Early Bird hotels offer extras to guests, such as welcome bags, airport shuttle service, free wifi or breakfast. For specifics on which hotels are available, as well as prices and special offers, check out Comic Con International’s Early Bird hotels page. If you plan to book an Early Bird hotel, do so soon, as rooms available are limited.
