Spring may be just around the corner, but winter is finally here for fans of Game of Thrones. On Tuesday, March 5, HBO released the highly anticipated official trailer for season 8, which premieres on Sunday, April 14, and will contain the last six episodes of the series. The trailer offers a first look at the final journeys of each of the major characters, as well as a glimpse of the cinematic excellence that is certain to come. And, if the early excitement and emotional response that the trailer has elicited from fans is any indication, the final season of Game of Thrones is setting itself up to break boundaries and possibly change the way in which we view storytelling – and I wouldn’t expect anything less.
