Next Week in TV 9/29: The Final Sermon for AMC’s Preacher

By DRWHO42, Mario Wario, & Alyssa

The upcoming week in television will be a shift of gears compared to the prior week, and will feature a number of season and series finales. The most notable of the series finales is AMC’s Preacher. The series which stars Dominic Cooper, Ruth Negga, and Joseph Gilgun is a standout series from the start and has built itself a very loyal fanbase (click here for a earlier article from our writer mlgagne on her thoughts on fandom for this series), who will be sad to see the series come to a close.

Sunday will also feature the fifth season finale for Fear the Walking Dead, while Pennyworth wraps its first season on EPIX. The animation block on FOX returns for another run including Family Guy, The Simpsons, and Bob’s Burgers.

Forest Whittaker’s latest series, Godfather of Harlem, which premieres this week has received positive buzz from critics.

The new series, which premiered last week, including Stumptown, Prodigal Son, and Evil provided new and exciting viewing experiences. The highlight last week was Emergence which started #WhoisPiper, that is trending on Twitter.

If you are interested in UFOs and the Paranormal, the History channel will be a great viewing destination throughout the week with season premieres of In Search Of and Ancient Aliens along with specials, such as Hunting UFOs: Investigating Alien Hotspots and UFOs: Top Secret Alien Files.

For those interested in law enforcement series, S.W.A.T., The Rookie, and NCIS: Los Angeles all return this week. The popular Peaky Blinders returns for a fifth season this week along with Carmen San Diego on Netflix. The Blacklist, which returns for its seventh run, and Goliath, which returns for a third time, will be great choices for all as we cap off the week this Friday night.

Lastly, as we enter are entering the month of October, the Halloween programming commences, and 31 Nights of Halloween Fan Fest is just the start of it to get you in the mood.
