Next Week in TV 11/10: Disney+, The People’s Choice Awards, and the Return of Rick & Morty!

By Scott, DRWHO42, and Alyssa

Like Man of Steel’s Zod, the Mouse is about to use our TV screens and media devices to broadcast his plans, or rather to celebrate the launch of Disney’s new streaming service called Disney+. The U.S., Canada, and the Netherlands are a go for this Tuesday’s launch, although New Zealand and Australia will join the party on November 19, 2019. Europe gets Disney+ next spring.

The price for Disney+ is $6.99 a month, or $69.99 a year, and there’s a 7-day free trial which means your credit card won’t get charged until the trial ends. On November 12, a $12.99 a month plan, which includes Disney+, Hulu (with ads), and ESPN+, will go live on that day.

According to Collider’s Adam Chitwood, Disney+ will have over “7,500 television episodes”, as well as “500 movies”. The one series many Star Wars fans have been waiting for is The Mandalorian, which is set after the defeat of the Empire (watch Return of the Jedi) but before the rise of the First Order. In it, a lone bounty hunter will be the series’ main focus along with his buddies, bounty hunting overall is not an easy profession. The first episode airs on launch day, with another one debuting on Friday, November 15. Each new episode will air weekly on Fridays.

Also debuting on Disney+: Lady and the Tramp, Encore!, Forky Asks a Question, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, and Marvel’s Hero Project. As for everything else not mentioned, the listing below will be your guide to survive the onslaught.

Sunday will see the return of Adult Swim’s Rick & Morty at 11:30 p.m. ET, with season four having 10-episodes. Also returning but on Showtime, and for the tenth season is Shameless at 9 p.m ET. The People’s Choice Awards, meanwhile, airs at the same time on E!.

The third season of Audience’s Mr. Mercedes (Tuesday, November 12; 10 p.m. ET) and the ninth season of FX’s American Horror Story (Wednesday, November 13; 10 p.m. ET) end their current seasons in a few days.

On Thursday, ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy series will celebrate its 350th episode at 8 p.m. ET. On Friday, Amazon’s The Man in the High Castle officially ends, while Netflix will house the series premiere of The Stranded and the third season premiere of The Toys That Made Us.

On Saturday, the Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series officially ends its first season on Nicktoons at 11 p.m. ET.
