Next Week in TV 12/22: A Fantastic Voyage Through the Holiday Awaits

By DRWHO42, Scott, and Alyssa

This week is a wonderful convergence of holidays as we celebrate both Christmas and Hanukkah. The week will also be festive onscreen thanks to the fantastic programming and content to check out with the family, or in a cozy corner as you recover from your holiday cuisine.

Looking back to last week, we witnessed the conclusion for the first season of Watchmen. Pretty much most of the storyline for this first season has been tied up, but there are a few lingering questions such as the identity of “Lubeman”. Only time will tell (no pun intended) if there will be a second season, especially since Damon Lindelof has been evasive when asked about future plans for the series.

The highlight of this week will be the season two debut of Lost in Space. We have been patiently awaiting for this next chapter in the series, since it first premiered in the spring of 2018. Based on what we have seen The Robinson family will face new challenges in their journey to Alpha Centauri. The week Mr. Robot shuts down its servers in an epic two hour finale. We anticipate this finale will be filled with intrigue and suspense until the closing minutes. We will then look forward to seeing Rami Malek on the big screen this April in Daniel Craig’s last assignment as James Bond in No Time to Die.

His Dark Materials will also wrap its first season. This adaptation of the novel series by author Philip Pullman has been exceptional and Dafne Keen has been stellar in her role as Lyra.

If you are looking for a few laughs, Netflix has a few new comedy specials in the lineup led by Kevin Hart and John Mulaney. On the same topic of comedy, Eddie Murphy’s return to Saturday Night Live on December 21st was triumphant and if you missed it you can catch it on Hulu or On Demand.

Christmas Day will feature a mixture of sports with hoops action between the LA Clippers and LA Lakers. PBS will air a Call the Midwife special.

That’s all for now. Enjoy the celebrations this week and time with family and friends.

Happy Holidays.
