Next Week in TV 1/5: The winter season begins with the Globes

By alyssa, Scott, and DRWHO42

Winter premieres and debuts are the theme of the week with a night of glitz, otherwise known as the 77th Golden Globes Awards. Best wishes for the Joker and Parasite, as both are up for Golden Globes tonight. We would be thrilled to see Joaquin Phoenix win for his portrayal of the Joker and director Bong Joon-Ho to win Best Director for Parasite.

New in the line-up this week is NBC’s Zoey’s Excellent Playlist, which is a high concept adventure musical exploring what it is like to hear other people’s thoughts in the form of music. We enjoyed the lead actress, Jane Levy, in Suburgatory, so we will be giving the new series a try. Another new series debuting this week is Netflix’s Medical Police, a comedy brought to us from the creators of Children’s Hospital. It follows doctors working in a secret division of the CDC; combating deadly viruses.

Two other new series to give a try are FBI: Most Wanted (CBS), a high stakes procedural, and Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector (NBC). Lincoln Rhyme is a continuation of the search for a notorious serial killer.

For anime lovers, Netflix has a new series called Scissor Seven, an amnesiac, scissor-wielding, hairdressing, bungling quasi-assassin stumbles into a power struggle among feuding factions.

Returning series include Manifest and Evil, as well as numerous network shows, so do take a look below for the full listing. Do note that Star Trek ‘Short Treks’ wraps up its current season this week, though, we eagerly await Star Trek: Picard on the 23rd on CBSAA.

Alyssa bought her first comic at age 7 and was hooked. She has collected comics most of her life. Recently, she has branched out to comic art and books and the occasional Lego set. She goes to as many cons as she can and enjoys the 'long form' storytelling of the television medium. She is also a foodie and is always up for trying new and different food.
