Next Week in TV 2/9: The final mission for Section 20 in Strike Back

By DRWHO42, Scott, and alyssa

The 92nd Academy Awards are here, and by the end of the evening, movie fans will know who will take home the prize trophy known as the Oscar. Of course, there is plenty to celebrate in excellence in cinema, including Best Picture nominees 1917 and Joker, Best Actors Adam Driver and Joaquin Phoenix, Best Actresses Cynthia Erivo and Scarlett Johansson; and Best Directors Bong Joon-Ho for Parasite and Martin Scorsese for The Irishman. The event will also include a performance from Billie Eilish, who is coming off a hot streak from 2020’s Grammy Awards; has also been chosen to sing the theme song in the upcoming Bond film, No Time to Die.

Also on Sunday will be the series finale of the popular series Power, while Whovians will have another trip in the TARDIS in Sunday’s Doctor Who. In Doctor Who news, the BBC recently revealed the titles of the two-part finale, “Ascension of the Cybermen” and “The Timeless Children.” The highly anticipated season finale will see the Doctor try and defeat one her deadliest foes, the Cybermen.

Later in the week, TV fans will see the return of Narcos for its fifth season, and if you are interested in the paranormal, you may want to add Expedition X to your viewing list. Expedition X is a paranormal investigative series featuring adventurer Josh Gates, scientist Phil Torres, and paranormal researcher Jessica Chobot (formerly Nerdist News).

Let’s not forget that Valentine’s Day is this Friday, and that day will have a few things to watch, such as Disney’s movie sequel Zombies 2. It is all about teens dealing with high school life that includes zombies and singing. Hulu’s High Fidelity and Utopia Falls are also options to add to your viewing list.

Also on Friday will be the return of Strike Back, which will be entering its seventh and final season on Cinemax. This season should offer an adrenaline-filled hour, which will help you wind down the week. The action series itself, which centers on a covert special ops team, stars Alin Sumarwata, Daniel MacPherson, Jamie Bamber and Warren Brown, who also guest-starred on Doctor Who last week. The series, which has reinvented itself twice during its run, is a standout for its internationally set filming locations, such as Thailand, and excellent action sequences that leave viewers white-knuckled. Each season brings something new and improved, and the writers have been doing a great job in keeping the storyline engaging thus far. If you are unfamiliar with the series and want to check it out yourself, the first six seasons are available to stream on ‘Max Go’ – you won’t be sorry!

That is all for this week. Be sure to join the conversation on the FoCC forum to discuss the winners from the Academy Awards and to chat about what you are watching, as well. Until next time, happy viewing!
