Next Week in TV 3/8: Exploring the Universe in Cosmos

By DRWHO42, Scott, and alyssa

Last week we had an extra day in February; however, this week, some of us lose an hour of sleep due to Daylight Saving Time. As we struggle with the time shift, there are a few things on the horizon that will grab your eyes, from exploring the way the universe works in Cosmos and saying goodbye to a few series, which will wrap up their seasons this week.

Cosmos returns Sunday evening for its third season and will serve as a reminder that this universe has a lot of mysteries left, as we are still looking to explore and understanding on how the universe works. Later in the week, Netflix will debut an interactive Carmen Sandiego television movie, so check it out.

There are also several season finales airing this week, starting with the much talked about McMillion$The OutsiderThe New Pope9-1-1: Lone Star, and Lincoln Rhyme.

McMillion$, the docuseries about the McDonald’s Monopoly game fraud has been engrossing thus far, and if you haven’t had the chance to watch this eye-opening analysis of how the prize promotion game was exploited, we highly recommend that you do. 9-1-1: Lone Star, meanwhile, wraps up its first season this Monday night, and as far as spin-offs go, this series has exceeded our expectations, as well as delivering great suspense, through the emergencies the team faced while allowing the characters to grow organically. However, have no fear if you are a fan of the 9-1-1 franchise, as the mothership series will return next week.

On The CW, Black Lightning wraps its third season this week. This season was a good one, which was highlighted by its first excursion into the Arrowverse with the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover. Thus, we are looking forward to its return in the fall.

In related television news, pilot orders, deals, and filming are commencing as of this writing. The early buzz surrounding Walker, Texas RangerThe Equalizer, and Kung Fu reboots has been great to hear. There are also a few supernatural pilots in the works which have been ordered, including The Brides, a vampire-themed series starring Gina Torres and Ghosts, plus iZombie’s Rose McIver. Of course, only time will tell on if or when they will be picked up. As always, we are keeping track of the series orders and tracking on how the fall TV schedule shapes up.

We also found out that The Magicians and Hawaii Five-0 will conclude their current runs this season. Both have had a great run, yet we are still disappointed by the news.

That’s all for this week. Don’t forget to join the conversation on the FoCC forum to share your thoughts on all things TV.
