Next Week in TV 3/22: The Adventures Continue With Picard, and More

By DRWHO42, Scott, and Alyssa

While we are all adjusting our lives to the ever-challenging COVID-19 outbreak, we have a chance to find a little escape in TV land. On the business side, the networks and streaming platforms are happy, because their viewership numbers have increased significantly. This also presents a good business case for movie companies to consider transitioning from the cinematic runs to streaming platforms quicker, and as a result, Onward (Disney/Pixar) and Kumail Nanjiani & Issa Rae’s comedy The Lovebirds will debut on streaming platforms very soon, as there will probably more to follow.

The week ahead in TV will also feature some interesting options starting off with the psychological mystery series, Freud, on Netflix.

There are a few season finales this week. First up is the offbeat detective series Stumptown, starting Colbie Smulders, and the blog thought the first season was an intriguing and wild ride, thus bring on a second season if we get one. Next is the hysterical comedy series, Awkwafina is Nora From Queens, which wraps up its first season this week. Also wrapping up its first season is Star Trek: Picard on CBS All Access, as well as This is Us, The Sinner, and A Million Little Things. Of course, we are looking forward to all of these series to return next season.

In other television news this week, the upcoming limited-run The Walking Dead: World Beyond, which was scheduled to debut April 12, has been delayed until a future date later this year. Also, there is an exciting buzz this week for the upcoming second season of the popular Disney+ series, The Mandalorian, with news of Rosario Dawson joining the cast to play the live-action version of Ashoka Tano, while Robert Rodriguez has been confirmed as a director for one of the episodes. The blog is certainly looking forward to this upcoming season with great interest.

That’s all for this week. We hope everyone remains safe and healthy.
