The month of March will soon be behind us, and as we look ahead to April, the week ahead will feature a few interesting options, as well as a few goodbyes. Looking back to last week, The Walking Dead gave Danai Gurira’s Micchonne a grand send-off. There are a lot of questions as to what is next for her character in the next phase of The Walking Dead franchise (aka the much talked about movies, which will feature Andrew Lincoln’s return as Rick Grimes), but for now, all we are left with are questions about the caravan of survivors and the drawing on a disused cell phone.
9-1-1, meanwhile, continues to impress with interesting emergencies and heartwarming moments. FBI and FBI: Most Wanted also didn’t disappoint; fans got a recent suspense-filled two-hour crossover.
In TV news, the COVID-19 outbreak has upended the production schedule for a number of projects, with the suspension of film and television productions across the US, Canada, Europe, and elsewhere. The studios have taken the pandemic seriously and have responded accordingly, but with the delay, there will be shifts and adjustments in the airing schedule. Most notable of the changes in the series finale for The Walking Dead, which was scheduled to occur on April 12, now has been delayed until later this year. To make up for it, AMC made the decision to move up the season premiere of Killing Eve by two weeks to April 12. All of The CW series have ceased production and this has led to delays for Supernatural, Legacies, Supergirl, Batwoman, and more. ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy will forgo filming season 16’s finale.
The upcoming week itself will be exciting and it begins with the sixth season premiere of ABC’s popular series How to get Away with Murder. If you are looking for something from across the pond, Call the Midwife returns this week on PBS for its ninth season. Another interesting choice to add to your watch list is a law enforcement British series titled, Line of Duty, which has aired several seasons in the UK, but is making its debuting stateside this week. There are a few familiar faces in this series which include Lenny James (Fear the Walking Dead, The Walking Dead).
If you are looking for a few laughs this week, Kim’s Convenience returns this week on Netflix, and don’t forget to catch the new comedy series, Broke, featuring Pauley Perrette (NCIS), on CBS, and Harley Quinn’s season 2 premiere featuring (once again) the vocal talents of Kaley Cuoco and Alan Tudyk.
There will also be a few goodbyes this week with Hawaii Five-0, The Magicians, and Future Man ending their series runs. Fans of each will be sad, but in reflection, these series have had successful runs, with the most notable being Hawaii Five-0. Also, wrapping their seasons this week are Amazing Stories, FBI, and Amazing Stories.
With the additional time we have are at home, and to remain indoors due in an effort to ’flatten the curve’ everywhere to fight COVID-19, now is a great opportunity to check out something new or to revisit past favorites. Members of the blog’s writing team pulled together their top recommendations, which will give you a few options to check out (click here for the article).
Lastly, the self-isolation has inspired fans to band together for watch-parties (with fans sharing the experience via Twitter). The Doctor Who fandom will gather this Monday at 7 pm GMT for the Matt Smith-era adventure ‘Vincent and The Doctor’. Emily Cook, the organizer of the event, has gotten series stars Matt Smith and Karen Gillan along with Tony Curran, Bill Nighy, Emma Freud (Script Editor), and Richard Curtis (Writer). The hashtag to follow for this event is #TheUltimateGinger.
That’s all for now. What are you watching? Join the conversation on the FoCC forum.
