Comic Con attendees were saddened to learn recently that San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) has been canceled for 2020. SDCC will return in 2021 on July 22-25 (with Preview Night on July 21). Those who already have a badge for the 2020 show have been given two options: to transfer their badges to the 2021 show, or to request a refund.
An unofficial poll conducted on FoCC shows that more than 97% of our members plan to transfer their badges to next year. However, there are those who are unable to attend next year, or whose financial circumstances have changed such that a refund now would be appreciated. For those who need a refund, requests must be submitted by July 1, 2020. Those who do not submit a refund request by this date (i.e. do nothing) will automatically have their badges transferred to 2021.
Refund requests can be made on Comic Con International’s (CCI) website here. Note that the entire badge must be refunded; fans are unable to have only some days of a multi-day badge refunded. Attendees will need to provide their Member IDs and the Expo Logic confirmation number for the badge purchase, as well as the name and Member ID of the buyer. For those in buying groups, this may require some co-ordination to obtain all of the necessary information. Fortunately, CCI has been generous with time, as attendees have more than 2 months to fill out the form.
While the number of cancellations in 2020 has been depressing, The FoCC Blog is looking forward to future cons, when such events are able to take place once again.
