Next Week in TV 4/26: Don’t Dread it, Penny Dreadful: City of Angels is Here, and More!

By Scott, DRWHO42, & Alyssa

Do you need more TV shows or movies to watch while staying at home? Don’t worry if you do as the blog is here to help you reload your viewing list. Here are a couple of notable series to check out.

Let’s begin with Showtime’s Penny Dreadful: City of Angels series, which premieres Sunday at 10:10 p.m. ET on Showtime. This new spin-off series to Penny Dreadful stars Natalie Dormer (Game of ThronesThe Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 and 2) as Magda, a demon who has the power to take any form when needed; and the series itself takes place in 1938 Los Angeles. So, check it out!

The documentary series, Prop Culture, is set to debut this Friday morning on Disney+. It is about finding particular movie props that were used in many of Disney’s most iconic movies, with writer and producer Dan Lanigan (Race to the SceneFan-O-Rama) being our tour guide. Do note that season one has eight episodes, and each one will be available this Friday morning.

Every Saturday at midnight, don’t forget to check out Syfy’s TZGZ animation block. If you do not know what it is, TZGZ is a late-night 90-minute segment on Syfy that launched late last year, and it houses a series of shorts made for adults. Now if you want more information as to what is airing on TZGZ, please click here.

Do note that there is a last minutes change to the return of NBC’s Blindspot. The return date for the series’ fifth and final season will be on Thursday, May 7, at 9 p.m. ET instead of the originally scheduled date of April 30. Martin Gero, series creator, promises the wait will be worth it.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine will include the novel coronavirus pandemic in season 8, while a new Star Wars TV series is in the works, with Leslye Headland (Sleeping with Other PeopleRussian Doll) being listed as the series’ showrunner and writer, according to Variety. HBO recently renewed Westworld, which means fans of the popular TV series will be getting a fourth season, while the cast of NBC’s Parks and Recreation will be reuniting on April 30 for a COVID-19 benefit 30-minute special that airs at 8:30 p.m. ET.

Don’t forget to join the conversation over on the FoCC forum to share your thoughts on all things TV; the new TV listing is below. Until next time, stay safe and keep healthy, everyone!
