Game On: IGN’s Summer of Gaming Event Keeps Leveling Up

By Scott C.

With E3 2020 canceled due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, the gaming world had no major June gaming event to look forward to. Luckily, IGN is doing something about that. IGN’s Summer of Gaming showcase, a global and digital event about upcoming games and next-gen consoles, is coming in June and it has an impressive lineup (shared below).

Recently added  to the show schedule were Ubisoft, Blizzard, Xbox (probably more Xbox Series X related information), EA, CD Projekt Red, Funcom, Larian, Systemic Reaction, Bloober and Artificial Core, as well as Cold Symmetry (with publisher Playstack).

Also part of IGN’s summer event programming will be the Guerilla Collective, a separate gaming event that will highlight many indie game developers and publishers from June 6-8, with the help of Media Indie Exchange and Kinda Funny Games.

Overall, the Summer of Gaming showcase is about providing gamers with the ”latest information and impressions” on upcoming gaming projects. IGN’s goal is to focus on publisher presentations with pre- and post-discussions, remote developer interviews, hands-on demos and preview impressions and gameplay, as well as news segments recapping the biggest announcements. Do expect live broadcasts and on-demand programming, featuring the work of game developers from around the world. Everyone can watch the showcase online on IGN’s many platforms, such as on its Twitch, Mixer, and YouTube channels, as well as on its social media websites like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. And the best part is that access is free for all!

Here’s the overall lineup thus far:

  • 2K
  • Amazon
  • Arcade1Up

As you can see, the lineup looks great, and given what was added recently to it, June is looking good for gamers. And with many locations still under stay-at-home orders, gaming not only helps us stay sane in the meantime, but learning about new gaming content as well also helps us keep our minds from the ongoing pandemic. June can’t get here soon enough for me!
