FoCC Reactor: Sneak Peek at HBO’s Lovecraft Country

By DRWHO42

A sneak peek at the highly anticipated HBO series, Lovecraft Country, was released today during the panel for the series during SDCC at Home.

Here is what we know so far: Lovecraft Country, based on the 2016 novel by Matt Ruff of the same name, follows Atticus Freeman (Jonathan Majors) as he joins up with his friend Letitia (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) and his Uncle George (Courtney B. Vance) to embark on a road trip across 1950s Jim Crow America in search of his missing father (Michael Kenneth Williams). This series of events sets off a struggle to survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and the terrifying monsters that could be ripped from a Lovecraft paperback.

What was shown (below) was not long but it give us a glimpse of three of the main characters Atticus Freeman (Jonathan Majors), his friend Leti (Jurnee Smollett), and his father Montrose (Michael Kenneth Williams). The scene did not give us much to go on, however, it did give us a sense of an elaborate mystery woven with chair gripping suspense. We cannot wait until the series debuts on Sunday August 16th.
