NYCC 2020 Becomes Digital YouTube Event

by Transmute Jun

2020 has left a strong of canceled cons in its wake, and New York Comic Con (NYCC) is the latest victim of this unfortunate trend. While fans had suspected for some time that the in-person event was cancelled, given the lack of badge sales, hearing the news officially still comes as a blow for attendees eager to shake off the boredom of lockdowns.

However, the news is not all bad. ReedPop is teaming up with YouTube to host an all-digital event on NYCC’s YouTube channel October 8-11, the same weekend that the in-person event was scheduled to take place. Already planned are events featuring American Gods, the Star Trek Universe and DreamWorks Animation. Hulu and FX have also committed to providing panel content.

While fans are understandably disappointed, it is welcome news that ReedPop is working to bring panels to attendees in their homes. Are you looking forward to NYCC’s digital content? Join the conversation on the FoCC forums!
