Next Week in TV 8/23: The NOS4A2 Season 2 Finale, Prime Rewind: Inside The Boys Series Debut, and More!

By Scott C. & DRWHO42

Greetings, TV fans! Here’s a quick rundown on all things TV this week.

Let’s begin by pointing out that the horror series NOS4A2, is wrapping up its second season this Sunday night (August 23rd; 10 p.m. ET) on AMC, as well as on BBC America. The series itself, however, is still awaiting word on whether or not it will be awarded a third season. Hopefully, we’ll know the answer soon!

Amazon, meanwhile, has a new after-show to watch this Friday morning (August 28th), and it is called Prime Rewind: Inside The Boys. Yep, as you guessed it, the new after-show will focus on the superhero series The Boys and the premiere episode itself will recap all of season one. The host will be actor and comedian Aisha Tyler. The second season of The Boys will premiere on Prime Video on the morning of September 4th; the series was renewed for a third season already.

If politics is your type of thing, do know that the Republican National Convention is on multiple networks this week (and online), and the dates are Monday, August 24th – Thursday, August 27th. The time for each day is 10 p.m. ET (also airing sooner online via livestream on social media, Twitch, and Amazon Prime, or on particular networks). This also means that the usual nightly TV schedule we are currently used to on particular networks will be different until after the convention.

The rest of the week does look light on content, but there are still many shows, movies, and documentaries listed in the listing below. So, check that out.

As for some recent renewal and cancellation news: Comedy Central has now decided to cancel a few of its shows, such as Tosh.O and Drunk History, while Netflix has also decided to cancel The Society, as well as I am Not Okay With This, thanks to the pandemic butting in on production. Although Warrior Nun did get renewed by the streaming platform, which means a second season is coming soon. Penny Dreadful: City of Angels was not so lucky, though, as the series was recently canceled by Showtime. And finally, Apple has recently  renewed Ted Lasso, so a second season is coming.

DC’s FanDome event launched this past Saturday and there was excitement and buzz, including the release of a trailer for the next season of The Flash along with other film news (check out our Reactor section for those trailers). Since there was so much content to prepare for, the fine folks behind DC FanDome decided to create a follow-up event, which is called Explore the Mulitverse; that will occur on September 12th at 10 a.m. PT.
